Yay for the WIC representative!

I had my very first ever WIC appointment today. I am 6+ months pregnant with my third. I had some questions about how my checks change since I will for sure be exclusively breast feeding when baby is born.

The woman said "Oh that's great did you breast feed your other two and for how long?" I told her that with my first almost 4 years and with my second it was somewhere between 2.5 and three years.

She got a big smile on her face and said "Oh that is just so great! Kudos to you!"

I always expect the weird look when I say "almost 4 years with my first" but not at all.

I had the same experience at WIC. Very pro extended breastfeeding.

Our WIC counselors have always been very supportive, too!

One of my friends was recently admonished by a WIC counselor for breastfeeding her ds after one year. But mostly I hear stories of support. It probably depends on the counselor, so it would be good if in their training they ALL learned the benefits of extended BF.
