Second Special Needs child

Well, after months and months...DS#3 ( 4 1/2 months) is slightly on the special needs arena.

We have swalling issues; GERD (yes, full blown GERD); reflux; and all the fun things that go along with both those diagnosis.

In addition, we found out he has tight muscles in his legs and arms, specifically his hamstrings in both legs, and his right arm is much more tight than his left.

You caught it early and I hope with treatment, he overcomes the current challenges.

I have two as well with special needs. I was doing really well with one, but having two has sent me reeling. It's hard; there's no two ways about it. Both mine have physical birth defects. I don't have any answers for you, but I have empathy and compassion. There is help out there, and it will get better.

Thanks, I am hoping that this journey will be short.

DS2 has speech delays and some sensory issues...

DS3 is just starting the process so we will so how it goes...

I have two with SN as well, both very different. DD1 has SPD, dyslexia, and anxiety issues, DD2 now *just* has asthma now. Translation of that is that she has chronic lung problems since she was a newborn, O2 dependent until 7m of age, multiple severe respiratory infections, pneumonia and croup are things that happen every few months. We spent 30 minutes a day doing her nebs for maintence, she is always ill, and I do mean always.

It is rough having two with issues. DS has been delayed doing some things, he still doesn't speak at 17m of age, and I'm like, really yet another child? It will be better like another poster said, when it is subjective because I fell like my kids trade turns being better and then the other takes a turn downhill again. I am not religious in any sense but I do think that perhaps my children choose me because I would be the one that would go to bat for them. Or maybe that is something that I just think about to get through the days, who knows but it works sometimes.
