Travelling with a Co-sleeper

You all are very helpful with my last post about keeping the co-sleeping child in bed! I put the mattress on the floor and that eases worries about baby rolling/crawling out of bed at night. One unexpected bonus was finding all of the hair clips and reading materials that had gotten lost under the bed. Who knew?

The next concern is a trip I'll be taking in November. It involves two nights in a hotel and a week at my sister's house. Especially at the hotel, what would you all do to keep baby from rolling off the bed and/or get closer to the ground?

You could travel with an aerobed and use that on both the hotel room floor and your sisters floor. That's what we did when DD was little. Are you single parenting or traveling with a partner? If you are with a partner baby can just sleep between the two of you.

We always slept with babe between us. When I coslept alone in a hotel with a little babe, I put pillows along one side of the bed, although she never was much of a roller or crawler in her sleep.

You can also buy inflatable bolster bed rails that strap on to the side of the bed...that would work with you and babe, and if you have a king there would be plenty of room for three of you.

Single parenting.

I always push the bed against the wall and pin the kid in on the other side.

How old? When we traveled at 9 months I just put a bunch of pillows along the side of the bed. DD tended to snuggle into me anyway.

I might get it from the family safety people for this one, but it worked for us.

My dd was 9 months the last time we traveled and she mostly sleeps snuggling me, but I was still worried about her rolling off the bed. I also worry about the big wooden night stands next to the beds in hotels! I put the suitcase rack next to the bed, put the suitcase on it and a pillow on that, bridging the teeny (1/2 inch?) gap between the bed and the suitcase.

I had dh on one side of me to prevent rolling though. I think that it could work without a partner if you slept sideways on the bed so that the headboard was on one side of you and the suitcase rack on the other.
