Has anyone ever heard of Kawasaki Disease?
My son was diagnosed with this disease in June this year. It is the number 1 cause of heart disease in children. Luckily, my son received treatment in time and the disease did not get to his heart.
I want to tell everyone about this disease it is often misdiagnosed and mistaking for the flu or in my case a herpes virus.
I am hosting a Kawasaki Disease Awareness event next September 2011 to spread the word about this disease and raise money for research. You may have heard that John Trovolta's son was diagnosed with this disease as a child. All the proceeds from the event will go to the Kawasaki Disease foundation. This money will help aid in the process in finding a test and cause of this horrible disease.
Please, Please if your child has a fever longer than 4 days, a rash and strawberry tongue get them to the doctor. Even though they do not know what the cause of the disease is or how to test for it, they do know how to treat it.
