How to treat varicose veins in pregnancy inexpensively?

Hi mamas,

I'm having a time with varicose veins and spider veins in just my right leg. I've been looking at Jobst maternity support hose and the cheapest I can find are $49. I looked at their thigh highs and I'm not convinced those would be comfortable.

I also looked at herbs. It seems the majority of varicose treatments have horse chestnut, which seems to be deemed unsafe in general now. Then, I found Shonda Parker's pregnancy formula (circulatone), but is like $85 for 32oz. Can't afford that. It only has 4 herbs, which I'm sure I can buy and make my own tincture, but I don't have the recipe and that would also be costly.

Is there nothing I can do that is not going to break the bank??

Thanks!

exercise, especially water and cherries are supposed to be good for circulations. put your feet above your heart a couple times each day. yeah, those sort of help, but mine are still getting worse and they freaking hurt! I'll be watching this thread!

Destination maternity has support hose for $12. Mine are horrible in both legs and vulva, I don't know if I learned to ignore them or what but they don't hurt as bad now as they did when I was in 2nd tri/early 3rd tri (except the two that burst, they still hurt very bad). Make sure to get some exercise every day, walking works best for me, other workouts don't seem to help the veins. I've heard 1/2 cup of blueberries daily, supports vein health. Unfortunately I think they're just something you end up having to deal with, at least its getting to be pants seasons.

I had them in my last tri with my youngest and I just basically drank a lot of water, exercised and put my feet up as much as possible. I think baths helped too. My dr suggested hose but it was August and I refused to do it! Too hot!

discount surgical stockings dot com has there own line of compression hose that I like. I actually have the thigh highs and they have pretty much stayed put (maybe came down about an inch over the course of 24 hours of traveling transatlantic!).
