How long can you use a co-sleeper?

Hello all

I just got a beautiful handmade co-sleeper and am wondering how long it will be functional. My baby is exactly one month old. She was sleeping in a little cradle next to my bed before.

The co-sleeper is made of wood and the sides are about 16" high, it fits an 18"x36" mattress.

How long can I use this? How long did you use yours?

thanks!

That's roughly the same size as the Arm's Reach Mini-Cosleeper, which is safe up to 23 lbs, and should be discontinued when baby can get to their knees. Its overall dimensions are 34" long by 20" wide.

So, assuming it's safe overall, probably around a year?

Oh, and we used our full-sized Arm's Reach on the top level until 6 months, when she climbed out onto the bed, then until 9 months in the playpen position. She's in a crib full-time now (by her choice, not mine.)

I used my mini arms reach cosleeper until DD was almost 6 months- at that point she became too tall for it.

My ds grew out of his co sleeper just after 3 months or so- and we switched to a side carred crib.

Or, dur- I was forgetting that a handmade cosleeper is likely to have only 1 position.

So, yeah, OP, it'll be safe until your LO can pull up.
