As my daughter was potty-training, we went through a period where her cloth diapers were causing rashes. We tried anything (stripped, chaged detergent, used different diapers we owned) we could that didn't involve buying new (or even pre-owned) because the upfront cost wasn't something we wanted to (or could) pay for a short period of time.

Long story short, I picked up some large gDiaper covers and a few inserts from Freecycle and they worked for us! We bought two packs of the non-cloth inserts while she was potty training and we had no rashes.

In the meantime we got a new compost bin so I tried putting a gDiaper insert into in. Within a few weeks I had added 5-10 inserts and the initial ones had completely composted! The newer ones were almost gone after 2 weeks. We don't hot compost or anything, so it was just throw them in and mix it up composting.

Just putting it out there as a good alternative to disposible; I feel like they can get a bad rap in CD communities!

Thanks for reading! No CD flames though, I'd still CD if we had another one!

We've finally potty trained, but I was looking over the new issue of Mothering and noticed that gDiapers had responded to the cloth diapering story and I wanted to et the record straight from my point of view: we had no issues flushing and the composting was easy!
