Bread-making emergency!!!

Help!!!

I wanted to make this recipe for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow because I think they're super cute and I'm big into canning so it's appropriate. I've gathered all the ingredients but I guess I didn't read the instructions all that thoroughly because I neglected to notice that it says to use a stand mixer to make the dough. I do not own a stand mixer. Can I still make this recipe? And how would I do that? I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to bread other than in our bread maker so I need specifics please!!! lol

TIA!!!

Martha

ETA: Do you think it might be possible to make the dough in the bread machine?

I would go ahead and make the dough in the bread machine. I personally would put in all the wet ingredients and then add all the dry ingredients and make a "nest" for the yeast. Just like you would if you were making regular bread in the bread machine.

Thanks so much! I ended up putting it all in the bread machine and praying! LOL

Unfortunately, I guess I really really didn't read the instructions since I put the butter in the machine and couldn't figure out why the dough was so greasy. Turns out the butter was meant for brushing on the tops of the bread balls before baking. Oooooooops.

They turned out absolutely crappy! I can't believe I stayed up until 3am for that! Oh well, at least now I know that if I try it again I can make the dough in the machine.

Thanks for answering so quickly!

Those are soo cute! Are you going to try again? Were they only crappy because of the butter? I want to try these too!

They are super cute! Give it another try. Sometimes it takes a few times to get something right, and that is okay!! And you didn't get the instructions wrong, on step 5 it says add butter one tablespoon at a time until you get it all mixed in. I have a stand up, but when mine was broken I just made all my dough by hand. It is def. more work, but turns out well. My only concern with doing this by hand is that she said the dough was sticky.

Good luck!! Hope they turn out better this time!!

They are very cute - I'm definitely going to try again although I will start earlier in the day. And maybe I will borrow a friend's stand mixer.

You're right about the butter!! Man, I really really REALLY didn't read the instructions! In my defense, I do have ADHD so details aren't always my thing!

I think I'll wait a bit and try them again when it's not so important and I can take my time!
