Hi!

We're currently in the middle of editiing our profile so we can get it ready to give out. We're a bit stuck on the description of where we live. We're in a Chicago suburb but it is a bit unique in that we have lots of open spaces, wildlife, lakes and horses. Houses are very spread out with large lots. For those in the area, we're in horse country.

We're also in one of the best school systems here but I don't know if/how to include that info.

The person we're working with wants us to emphasize this - but without making it sound snobby or anything. Plus we're about at our limit on length so we want to keep it to a couple of sentences. It is really hard!

So far, this is what we have, can anyone give me an honest opinion on how it comes across?

Our comfortable home is located in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago,in the lakes region. We're close enough to the city to access its cultural attractions, yet we're in a unique wooded small town-like setting. We pass by two horses on our way to our son's school which is always a nice way to start the day. We have a one-acre lot with lots of trees, a wooden playset in the backyard and frequent furry visitors such as deer, fox and one very round racoon who waddles by occassionally.

Sounds great to me! We included similar things in ours and I would say that you are in the best school district or top rated school district as we were told that lots of times a good education is VERY important to the birthparents.

Well as a birthmom, I really like it. It sounds great and not at all snobby. I love the mentioning of the animals.

I would throw it in there about the great school district too. When searching for parents, I was mostly looking for those who do home school or private school. But I may have been ok with a great public school in a good district situation. So I agree that education is a big deal to many birth parents. Any info you put in there is helpful to birthmoms. I loved wordy profiles because they saved me from wasting time contacting parents that were not what I was looking for.

But I never used an agency and I know that makes things different.

Good luck.

Thank you both for the feedback. Let's see, could I say something like this for the school district thing:

We have chosen to send our son to a private Montessori preschool but we live in an amazing school district so starting with kindergarten he'll be attending public school which is only a mile from our home.
