So the other day, DH emailed me to say that his company was offering the flu shot that day and he decided to get it to test his theory that he only gets the flu when he gets the flu shot.... fine, his body, his choice... right?
But I emailed him back and just said... EWWW!
And the other day I was in a coversation with a co-worker and it came up that we don't do vaccines for DS... she asked why and I basically told her that there were all sorts of ingredients in them that I just am not comfortable shooting into his body... especially at such a huge developmental stage.
So when DH emailed me about the flu shot, it got me thinking that I couldn't remember what ingredients were in that shot and I googled it.
The frustrating thing with this was that b/c I was going to talk to DH about it later, I couldn't get my info from any anti-vaccine source... I couldn't even use a link to a pro-vax source that I got from MDC, b/b he won't take that as valid evidence. And you know what... it was like pulling teeth to find a pro-vax source that actually listed the ingredients in the vax. All of them gave a very general "inactivated virus and chicken embryos." That was it. I finally found a pdf file on the CDC site that listed all the stuff used to make it... (Beta propiolactone, formaldahyde, thimerasol, polysorbate 80, etc.).
And then when I told DH what was actually in it, you what... he got mad at me! And said, "thanks, sweetie... now I'm going to die." As if it's my fault that he unknowingly injected all that crap into his body. Upon further discussion, he just refuses to hear about what's in them and all of my objections because "if it was really bad for us, the CDC wouldn't let them use that stuff in the vaccines."
Then he pretty much refused to continue the conversation saying "I just hate talking with you about vaccines!"
I'm just so frustrated on so many levels... frustrated with vax providers for not being upfront about what's in those things... and frustrated with DH and others who refuse to hear anything negative about vax's because they INSIST on believing that vax's are wonderful and safe for everyone.
