Im new to this.....
Hi
My Baby is 1 mo today!
struggling with BF since day 1.
BF 1x a day.
1 side is flat and baby wont latch. other side he latches, and its all broken and bleeds occasionally.
so mostly pumping and suplimenting formula.
only getting 1oz per 2 hour pumping, trying to increase supply.
I have implants and lift and I suspect some ducts and tissue have been removed.
I have questions about my ameda purely yours would like more suction but dont know what parts to buy to make that happen. and unsure about flange size.

hi. i have the same pump. i don't know if you can make the suction faster or stronger then it is. i'm not sure it would feel good if you did either. did you check the picture in the manual to see if the flanges and your breasts are the right size for each other?

for the flat nipple i think you can nurse with a nipple shield. maybe use that one the chapped bleeding one as well until it heals. you can also put a little breast milk on the nipple to help heal it.

I recommend getting a rental, just make sure the place you go has the ameda pump so you can just hook up your tubing and whatnot to it. Just get it for the week, usually it is ~$25-35, and if you don't like it you aren't out too much. I have used the rental and the purely yours and the rental had more suction. More suction may not help you get more though, but it is worth trying. For the flange size, your nipple should fit with space around it on all sides in the flange.

However, I would definitely get with a lactation consultant ASAP for help getting your baby latching on the one side and improving his latch on the other side.

I second the suggestion to get to a lactation consultant ASAP.

I had the Ameda Purely Yours and it was a wonderful pump. I used the areola stimulator inserts. I thought they would help since my breasts are small. I got tons of milk and the inserts made the pumping very comfortable. A LOT more comfortable than using the pump on its own.

Best of luck to you. I hope things work out.
