Reddish/orange smear in diaper

My 11 month old intact son has had two diapers today each with a tiny smear of orangey/red in the area his penis would have been. It does not really look like blood and it stays orange, not turning brown like blood does when it dries.

There is no irritation, no fever, eating and nursing and playing fine.

Any ideas?

The only thing that came to mind was uric acid crystals - could he be dehydrated at all?

When my son was a newborn and not nursing properly he had that in his diaper. Quickly resolved once he was getting enough milk and I haven't seen them since.
