Warm baby clothes

what will you dress your baby in to keep them warm for the winter?
Any links to good places online to browse warm baby clothes?

We have an outlet nearby, where the prices are much, much better, but I love the warm hanna andersson clothes:

I usually can find these at local resale shops, too, for even better prices then the outlet. But the outlet has them for easily 1/2 of what they are here on the site!

And layering is really key. I have a HA snowsuit/ fleece coverall for my lo when playing outside. Under that I like to keep him in cotton and wool.

I went to a few consignment sales this summer and stocked up for the winter. I bought mostly Carter's and Gymboree onepieces for daytime and fleece sleepers for nighttime. I didn't realize until recently that you can buy Carter's clothes online and not have to worry about hunting down a store. www.carters.com. And then there's always Gymboree at the Mall and they coupons floating around right now.

We would do layers if we needed to. Leggings underneath (I bought "girl" ones for DS) jeans or fleece pants and then a long sleeve onesie and a sweater. We keep our house at 65 and that was usually fine.

We are going to layer with tights, leggings, leg warmers, ect. Also, we have a jacket that has a wool lining. I just got her a couple of hoodies and hats, but Im still looking for some warmer hats that have cute "ears".

ebay! Because they grow out of them so quickly, I order winter snowsuits, boots, hats, etc. from ebay. Of course, they aren't always the cheapest prices, but generally they do come out betterr.

well, I'm considering buying my 6 month old a merino sweater from here http://www.nordicwoollens.com/en/babies/index.html if I can't figure out how to piece one together from felted wool.

For his legs, I've been hard at work making him some pretty sweet wool pants from felted sweaters arms. It is surprisingly easy. Here are a couple I've made

these were actually a pair of my husbands merino smartwool sock sand pieces of an old cashmere cardigan of mine

and these were a really soft wool sweater I bought for a dollar

i've been making woollen pants too. i used some felted sweaters to make yoga pants and a tighter fitting legging. the leggings i made with a nice wide waistband that goes almost up to her chest... keeps the belly nice and warm.

anyway, wool seems to do the best job of keeping baby at the right temperature. we also will be using lots of fleece from old navy and similar, but may spring for some pricier sport performance fleece from MEC nearer the end of the year as she gets more mobile. it's pretty easy to keep a non-mobile babe bundled up in layers of cheaper/less effective clothing, but a walker needs warmth without bulk.
