shatavari to boost supply?

Has anyone heard of or used shatavari to boost supply? My dd2 is nearing 1 year old and I've been on domperidone since she was 6 weeks or so. I'm thinking of beginning to wean off the dom but don't want my supply to crash (as it did when coming off of dom while BFing dd1 which ultimately forced weaning), so someone suggested shatavari.

Does anyone know of this?

Thanks.

Absolutely!
I have been using Shatavar for the past 3 months. I am a BFAR mom who had low supply last time (just BARELY had a full supply). I pump at work and it took me 5 pumps to get 12oz and some days I didn't make it.

This time around, I pump at work and get 15-17oz in 4 pumps with the help of 4 pills of Shatavari a day. When this baby was born she was gaining very slowly the first month--.3-.5oz per day. When I started Shat, it took a week or so but by the end of the second week, she was gaining .75-1oz per day. I love the stuff, and it is cheap! I get it at Swansons online--it is less than $10 per bottle and a bottle lasts a month for me! Good luck!

I'm interested in switching to Shatavari from domperidone. I just decreased dom by 10 mg and didn't see an effect in my supply... I will continue to take less dom... but not sure how to switch to Shatavari. Not sure about taking them at the same time...

germin - I take both dom and shatavari together... No ill effects.

I started the shatavari a week ago (tomorrow is 1 week) and within a few days started leaking when I haven't leaked AT ALL, even when my milk came in. It could be any number of the things I'm taking (MMP, domperidone, shatavari) but it came after starting the shatavari that I noticed it. I'm starting to leak more and more during the day, though my pumping output is still about 1-1.5 oz which friends say is actually 'normal' for a 2 week old. I haven't really pumped in the last few days (we have yeast, nursing is painful enough!) though and I've been consistently leaking more...

oh and our test feed, we went from transfer of about 3/4 oz nursing both sides to transfering 1 1/4 oz nursing one side and sleepy nursing the 2nd. Those were done a week apart. I'll do another one next week to see how it's going. We're slowly weaning from supplementing.

I say go for it... it's cheap and you can probably find it locally. I found it at an organic market and MOM's also carried it.

I weaned off dom and onto shat when DD was a yr old. The shat did offset the supply drop some but not as much as I'd hoped. And shat ended up inhibiting my letdown. When I stopped the shat I felt like DD was getting more from me. I have heard some mamas cycle the shat to prevent this.
