Is this really a girl? (sono pic) - updated #35 - Page 2

That does NOT look like my DD2's u/s. I'll see if I can post a pic tomorrow. She had prominent lines between her legs and NOTHING sticking out at all.

Have to agree with the PPs.. looks a lot like my DS's 18 week ultrasound shot.

dd2 at 27 weeks

trust me, though you couldsay even that looks turtlish... that thingy sticking out is just her cord.

And here at 30 weeks

but that thing sticking out of the top was her clitoris... which was still swollen after birth and sticking out of her labia... its only recently (now that she is almost 2 weeks old) gone down.

id trust the tech... who likely has seen dozens if not hundreds and has learned to judge pretty well... and also had several different views and more than a split second of looking at it... rather than going off of one not-so-great screenshot.

Well, good news is that you have another one coming up in a few weeks. It looks even MORE like a boy now that you've scanned it, the proportions are just wrong for it to be the cord or swollen girl parts.

Was this at a clinic with other techs, so you could ask for another opinion from a tech?

Looks like a boy to me...but my boy U/S was way stickie-outie. I didn't have an u/s with my girl.

an enlarged clitoris at that stage is pretty common i'd think.. but i'm not seeing labia. looks more like a scrotum.

One of our first 'girl shot' ultrasound photos with this baby her bits were swollen and sticking out a bit, and future multiple ultrasounds (joy of a high risk pregnancy with placenta previa and a prior full term loss) showed quite clearly the three lines of labia. So those bits could certainly be swollen girly parts...

I'd love to believe it's a swollen labia, but where are the 3 lines? I just don't see any, no matter how hard I look. It totally looks like a scrotum to me.

I find it odd that the tech picked this picture to name the parts.

Mae - I'm having a hard time making out the position of your 27w u/s. Are there 3 lines?

.

i dont see 3 lines in the 27 week one I posted... (you edited after I said this... the positioning is actually the same as yours, looking up from underneath, only rotated so her butts at the top of the screen while yours butts at the bottom)

at my 21 week ultrasound the tech was able to tell me girl but unable to get a clear enough screenshot of it to give me pic. still was confident that she was a girl... as i said, they go on more than just one screenshot.

yes, techs can be wrong, but honestly im very confident your pic shows a girl.

I think I saw you say that was at 19 weeks? It really looks like boy parts to me. At my 20 week ultrasound I had the same angle and we definitely saw labia. Although every baby is different.

If you want a clearer view... this is yours, 400% larger and with a bit of contrast/brightening/color correction http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...asoundedit.jpg

Thanks! I thought she was just flipped around, but I wasn't for sure. Goodness, I hope so! Either is truly a blessing, but we were/are rooting for a girl.

Thank you! You're a sweetheart!

I definitely don't see "girl" in that but I'm sure, as others have said, that the tech judged from more than just the one image. Surely the tech saw more than what we're seeing here. They're not foolproof, that's for sure, but I can't say 100% just *what* is being shown. Did you get a video? Those make it a lot easier to interpret!
I personally never see anything in ultrasound pictures, but if the tech was sure, I think it is pretty sure. Our doctor was super sure but by now I'm already second guessing... I don't want another u/s though. I guess I have to wait til baby is born to verify!

That looks nothing like any angle we saw on our little boy. He was sticking pretty far out there, obvious from any angle that included that half of his body. I wish I had a photo I could post...

Well, we went for a rescan and she's definitely a girl with three lines and no penis

Yay for girls!
