Help me freshen up my laundry

I have a front loader and am using powdered detergent (Nature's something or other...I can't remember what it's called, but it is natural and unscented). I also rinse with vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser. Sometimes my clothes smell vinegar-y. I have started drying some clothes with a wet rag with many drops of EO on it, and that makes them smell nice (my son likes vanilla so that's what I'm using now). But I hang dry most things so if I'm adding EO's to the washer should I add it to the detergent or to the vinegar rinse, or perhaps neither would be effective or both. I know that some of you wise mama's add EO to your laundry...how do you do it?

If I'm putting in eo's to get things smelling fresh, I add it to the vinegar in the fabric softener compartment.
Do you use "Nature Clean"?
I have a hate on for front loaders. I know I should love them, because of the energy and waer savings, but I really don't. Ours is part of our rented apartment, but I will never buy one when the time for such things comes. Grr.

Yes! It is Nature Clean. How did you know?
Thanks for the info.

I feel the same about front loaders as you, only I was the fool who bought it. lol.

do you add the vinegar to the machine auto dispenser? If so is it adding it at the correct time? I ask because ours had a glitch and was adding it on the wrong cycle and took a repair man to fix it. Could it be that your laundry dosent need as much vinegar or its not rinsing it out with enough water (water load capacity?) I would first try reducing the amt of vinegar and see if that helps.
