Nighttime diapering

Okay, I need to make a change.

Ds is 1yo, and I've been using bum genius diapers at night. They have started leaking. I have been stuffing them with one pretty thick prefold and one of the microfiber inserts that came with the diapers. That's not enough, but if I put another liner in they leak without getting full.

I have some motherease diapers and covers, so I thought I'd try those; he completely soaked two in one night (no leaking; it just happened to be one of the nights we were up in the middle of the night).

I could add another liner to the motherease, but I like how the fleece-lined pocket diapers don't feel wet next to his skin...in the motherease he might be wet for hours.

On the other hand I am really on the fence about using synthtic materials for diapering, especially the layer closestto the baby.

FWIW, we've been using FuzziBunz Mediums and OS for months now. DD is turning 1yo in just a few days and we've noticed that over the past couple of days she has been soaking through her diapers in less than two hours. I had some of the older style FB inserts (3 layer) sitting around in one of my diaper bags, so I put that underneath one of the new inserts (4 layer) and VOILA! No leaks! It was a bit bulkier, but it worked great. The other method we use is hemp doublers under one MF insert. The hemp doublers are super thin but very absorbent and are great at stopping leaks overnight. We only have three of them right now, which is why I had to improvise with the two inserts, but either way it works great!

My guy can pee an astonishing amount overnight. We use a Happy Hempy w the stay dry inner. Stuffed w 2 trifold pfs, a Loopy Do and a Hemparoo folded in half (i just had to add the loopy do). It's incredibly bulky, but it works. Then we have to put wool over it (we get leaks if we try to use PUL). Babyology is almost bulletproof for us, and pretty cheap... although you might need to go up a size to cover the fluffy butt.

Every so called night-time dipe we've tried he leaks out of by midnight.

We've always used Fuzzibunz overnight (prefolds during the day) and the inserts are sopping wet in the am but there are almost never any leaks. Occasionally, her pajamas are a little damp just at the top of her thigh.
I put in the Fuzzibunz microfiber insert plus a terry doubler.

ETA I used to try to use a big fleece cover with a prefold and doubler inside and it leaked every night.

I actually had to switch from the fuzzibunz at night months ago because they started leaking every night...maybe I need a bigger size.

I think I do have a few hemp doublers and diapers around; I'll try putting those in the mix.

Happy Hempy + Super Do insert + Dancing Bears fleece night soaker = one dry toddler!!! (for us, anyway, and I have tried a LOT of diapers)

I am on the lookout for a Babyology longie to try as well.
