I heard this on the radio this morning, and overall its not a bad treatment...but the fact that they ended with a woman stating that failure to get the chicken pox vaccine could lead to becoming infected with a flesh eating bacteria just made me . The most interesting stat quoted in the program was that 25% of kids who get the chickenpox vaccine get the pox from the vaccine. That's crazy! (and now I am off to read the hardcopy and make sure I heard that properly).

ETA: Apparently my interpretation is a bit off...it says in the written copy that 25% of kids still get sick after receiving the vaccine. I wonder if they get flesh eating bacteria?

my initial thought was that it was a good story for mainstream media... but then I started wondering about how they started the story in a mommy's group where moms were questioning the vax, but they ended the story with and expert talking about how important vaxes are. I just wonder if it didn't paint a picture of "overworried mom vs. all knowing expert."

And the expert was completely pushing guilt in that we should vaccinate our children because we don't want them to suffer. That was the note they ended on.

Although I was impressed that the story questioned the effectiveness of the pertussis vaccine.
