Hi all!
Before I switched to cloth a few weeks ago, my baby has been battling a red rash in his butt crack. I tried Butt Paste--didn't help--then finally tried lotrimin, as I guessed, by its stubborn nature and location, it might be yeast. The lotrimin seemed to heal the rash, so I assumed my yeast diagnosis was correct.
A few days into cloth diapering, I noticed the butt-crack rash re-appearing, and started the Lotrimin again--but this time, after days and days, still no improvement--in fact, it had gotten worse.
Now that I think about it, I'm not so sure this rash is yeast, after all...it may in fact be intertrigo, the type of rash caused by constant skin-on-skin contact, since it is only in his butt crack, doesn't look exactly like the yeats pics I find, and doesn't spread into the characteristic yeast satellites.
Anyhoo, since starting cloths--I use FB pockets, btw--I've noticed that my son seems so sweaty underneath the diaper. The cloths seems so much less breathable and way more hot and moist inside, due not merely to pee, but also sweat. I just spent over $300 on starting my stash, and now i'm afraid that I won't be able to use them, b/c it seems that cloth may make my baby have this rash!!
Today I've kept him mostly bare, but in sposies when necessary. I've also been slathering him with Butt Paste. This method seems to be clearly the rash up nicely--another clue that this rash is not yeast, after all, but likely caused by the moist chafing of his poor little butt cheeks.
Let me get to the point!
So, since almost no rash creams are compatible with cloth, HOW CAN I PREVENT DIAPER RASH WHILE USING CLOTH DIAPERS?
I do not want to give up on cloth!!
What methods/creams/powders do you use to keep your baby rash-free?
HELP!
