Babyproofing Concrete?

Thread Starter
My son's face is torn up and bruised from him running around in our front yard and face-planting into the concrete walkway. We have a large area of concrete, so it's hard to avoid it. It's not an ideal situation, but does anyone have ideas for how to soften the blow? I've tried to convince him to stop running on the concrete, but there is a nice hill he loves to run down, and it's hard to stop before he reaches the level (concrete) area. My husband suggested fake turf... I was trying to think of some kind of spray foam or rubber... any ideas?

What about those foam puzzle pieces? Like these: http://www.greatmats.com/products/foamspecial.php

What about those foam mats that snap together for the playroom floor? You could make a temporary/movable "landing pad" for him to run down the hill.

Yeah, like that. We were posting at the same time.

I would recommend a gymnastics or tumbling mat.
