Has anyone used this math program and, if you did, what did you think of it? (I know it isn't sold anymore, I have a used set, but I was curious if anyone liked it).

We use it as part of our math studies. My son loves it! I don't know if I would use it as our only math program, but we do get a lot out of it.

We use Math Mammoth and Afterwards: Folk and Fairy Tales with Mathematical Ever-Afters.

We do MM three times per week, NK once per week or as often as Nik wants to do it (which is sometimes every day), and Afterwards once per week.

Haven't used it because we can't find a used copy! I think my daughter would love it, but no such luck...

Used this in 1st grade and thought it was great. The hands on aspect and games are very good.
We used it with Singapore Math.
We could have used it for 2nd and 3rd grade as well but things got busy and I went to MCP math and it worked great for us through 4th grade and then we switch to Teaching Textbooks for 5th-high school.

I still have my set though and will use it later this year for my 5yr old son and probably my youngest when she gets older.

How did it work with Singapore? That's what I was thinking of doing. Was that a good match? How did you coordinate them together?

I didn't have any special schedule or anything. I just did Singapore some days and the games and lessons from NK some days. They worked well together since they were more conceptual in many ways than other programs.

I wish I could get my hands on that game...DS is obsessed with Knights, Dragons, wizards, etc. Thinking about making up my own game since this seems to be impossible to find. Like I didn't have enough to do already LOL

I got mine from a used Waldorf curriculum site. Every now and then one comes up for sale. If you'd like the yahoo group name, pm me.

Actually, the wooden knights and other characters were extra and very pricey. The game board (laminated card stock) and the book and some counters (glass marble things) were the "standard" pieces. You could use any knights/characters you wanted.

The book of lessons, songs, and action rhymes were the real gem of this program.

So yes, you could make up your game! Using a book like Family Math would give you some of the same ideas.

The person who developed it was a retired teacher. She decided she didn't want to deal with the business anymore and REALLY retire I guess.

As far as I know, she is not going to sell it again.

There is a yahoo group for used Waldorf curricula, which is where I found mine.  One just came up for sale the other day but I think has sold.  I got mine for $45 plus shipping on this site, but the one the other day was selling for $75 plus shipping.  I think the original price of a new set was around $80, just to give you a ballpark for what prices to expect.   I just posted a query for any used NKK sets and got a response.  I had to post several times, though, over about 2 months before one became available.   Hope it works out for you!  [e-mail]
