Very low blood sugar results

Had my GTT today... sort of lol. I've always suspected I have hypoglycemia, so I got my OB to compromise and let me do the 2 hour 'breakfast' test this time instead of the glucose drink, since it always makes me extremely ill.

My fasting number was 69. Went home, had b-fast, came back 2 hours later, and my number was 72! Eeek! The lab lady actually told me that I needed to go drink a Coke stat to get it up since it should be higher than that after eating. I don't think I've ever had a medical professional tell me to drink a Coke before. lol

Anyway, I'll go in tomorrow for my regular monthly appt., so I'll see what exactly this means and what my OB wants me to do about it. Has anyone been in this situation before?

Is that bad? I did the 2 hour breakfast test too with waffles and OJ and 1/4 cup of maple syrup. My blood sugar was 48. I know sometimes I can get a little dizzy from not eating and I will eat something sugary (OJ, fruit). They didn't say anything about it at all. And then I had a bigger baby and they insisted on testing us again for diabetes. Durr.

I guess I should ask my OB because I had a 75 after the one hour test. He didn't say anything while I was up there...

This actually has some average levels and information.
It says that 70 is normal - they want between 70 and 139 2 hour post prandial.
anything below 40 is considered sketchy.

72 sounds good to me.

Hmm, looks like it's on the low end of normal I guess? Most of the sites I found today said it was too low. She definitely was concerned when she got the results. Hopefully it won't be anything to be concerned about!

Thanks guys!

OK saw him this morning. He said it is lower than he'd like, but not anything to be majorly concerned about. He said to eat a good breakfast every morning, eat regular small meals throughout the day and carry a snack with me in case I need it. (basically eat like I have hypoglycemia). Totally do-able. Glad it's not something else to worry about! lol

I have low blood sugar issues when not pregnant... and they are worse when I am pregnant. My 1 hour gtt was 48.

For some... you become really good at secreting insulin when pregnant so your prone to low blood sugar.

Eat every two hours, carbs and protein protein protein.

TBH I think its why I crave pop so bad when pregnant, to help keep sugar up. (I have passed out numerous times between 3 pregnancies)

You know, I've wondered about that myself. I have CRAVED soda and candy this time! I just need to work on eating more proteins now I guess.
