I can't seem to find good enough pics online to tell what's with my tomato plant. It's the only plant I have, and it's in a container, so whatever's wrong with it it just this one plant....
The bottom leaves were being chewed by ... something. I didn't worry about it, since the plant was still growing, just the lower leaves had little holes in them. The fruit (what little there is so far) has been untouched. Then I noticed little black flea-things in the soil, and figured out they are probably fungus gnats and read they are harmless. The plant has been growing like crazy, and I figured if they were damaging the roots/bottom of the stem, it wouldn't be growing like this, so yeah, harmless.
But now the leaves are starting to look pretty bad, and I think it's powdery mildew, and it's climbing up the plant. The plant is still growing and flowering, but will this overtake it eventually? Is there anything I can do, or should I just let it die and then replant next season? Are the few tomatoes on the vine okay to harvest if their leaves aren't affected by the time they're ripe?
(Oh, and that's another question. One of the tiny tomatoes fell off the plant, stem and all. Like someone cut it off and left it there. How does that happen? There are no signs of worms or any other creatures on the plant...)
