What are you making for yourself or baby ?

So far i've made Eden's Adam in a size 3 month in a nice tan top and bottom and the middle is a green for baby.

I'm working on February Lady Sweater for myself.

I'm on Ravelry as SoCaliMommy

Me me me!!!

I don't have patterns, but here is on my to sew/knit list if this one keeps progressing (please oh please ):

---A changing pad using vinylish material
---A wet bag out of the same material
---1-2 wipe bags out of the same material
---Wipes out of some organic wash clothes I found on sale
---Cloth diapers using a size chart from a bloomer pattern using flannel for the outside, washclothes on the inside, and an organic cloth diaper on the inside, similar to this pattern http://mayna.livejournal.com/198548.html
---I'm pretty good at crochet, but new to knitting so I'm <hoping> I can pull some of these off: http://www.tinybirdsorganics.com/soakers/pattern/
---Maybe some booties from a McCall's pattern I have
---A mobile using these bird http://www.spoolsewing.com/blog/wp-c...pattern1-1.pdf for a girl or crocheted animals like this http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com...ry/animals.php for a boy.

Nothing yet specific for this babe, but will recycle several items from the other children. I have yet to make #3's baby blanket and she's 17 months old. EEEK. So I have two baby blankets to make. I have a nursing sweater/pregnancy sweater I made for #3's pregnancy and never wore it as I morphed into a house sized person and couldn't fit the damn thing over my ginormous belly. So I plan to frog it and redo it for this one!

This is where your screenname of SoCaliMommy is from. You asked me a while back about the easy peasy pullover! I made the easy peasy cardigan from Theresa Belville at Little Turtle Knits into a pullover for one of my kids! I am knittin on Rav.

Ooh, neat thread!

I've already made one top - the Baby Yoda top from Ravelry (a kimono-style top - I made it in pale green with darker green edging, and knit little leaves on the end of the i-cords used to tie it shut - I'm a newbie knitter so the seaming is pretty rubbish, but the whole thing still looks pretty cute from a distance!).

I'm now doing the Playdate Hoodie, again in dark green, but I'm changing a few things. I'm putting two rows of plaited cables on the back, and one row on each side at the front (just learning to cable - so satisfying!). Then instead of the buttonholes, I'm going to knit two little short band... things... with a buttonhole on one side, and stitch them with a button to one side of the top, so when it's buttoned up it'll have two buttons next to each other on a little rectangle. Does that make sense? I'm using these awesome wooden buttons I got off Etsy, made by sawing little branches into discs. Oh, and I'll put a garter stitch border on the hood. I'm hoping it'll look cuter than the original, which I'm just using as a guide.

In terms of sewing I want to make a mei tai (with a pocket on it so it can double as a purse/spare nappy holder when we go out!), a ring sling, a nice mat to go on the floor (I made a super-duper activity mat for SIL's baby, a few years back, but I don't think I have the oomph to do it again for a child who's merely mine. Sad, right?!)...

Hmm, what else? If I can master the magic loop method, I want to do some baby hats. And I'd really love to knit a onesie, maybe with nice wide stripes of blue and beige, but I haven't been able to find a decent free pattern. I really want to avoid nasty Made in China sweatshop junk with this baby, so I might need to find a (sewn) onesie pattern and made a bulk batch of 'em. I guess hand-me-downs and gifts will get me to a certain point, though.

Oh, and I need to construct some kind of cover thing for our pram. Some genius designed it so the hood part doesn't extend far enough to actually shield a baby or toddler from the sun (let alone rain)... I need to put some kind of extension on it. I'd kinda like to get rid of the pram, as it's very long and a pain on buses, but the carseat fits into it, and we can't really afford a new one.

Also, confession? I've always been kind of anti- finding out the baby's sex before birth - DD was a surprise. But now I'm so into sewing, I'm seriously considering finding out this time just so I can know what to sew and knit! Is that bad? I'm doing gender-neutral stuff for now, but I LIKE a lot of girl-specific clothes, and some that look pretty intentionally boyish. I don't want to spend months knitting beautiful cabled pink dresses - or sewing Edwardian-inspired sailor suits for a boy - that the baby won't wear in the end. I could save them and give them away, but wool's so expensive and I'm such a slow knitter (with so little free time!) that I'd rather just craft for MY baby. Anyone else in the same boat?

Great thread! I have not made anyting for the baby yet. I am working on a pair of knit longies for a friend of mine. I might just wait to find out what this baby is before I make anything. I have a ton of gifts that I still need to knit up before Christmas.

Love this thread!

I haven't made anything yet, but plan to sew diapers after I get done sewing Christmas gifts for family. I have yet to decide on a specific pattern, but really like the one you posted, BeryHappy!

I also have plans to make a crib quilt. And probably some little stuffed animals, similar to these http://www.flickr.com/photos/loobylu.../in/set-69316/ by etsy user loobylu. I LOVE her stuff. Except we're not going to find out the sex so I will make something unisex. Though I'm not against pink stuff for boys or blue things with cars on them for girls. But I also love green, orange, brown, yellow. So I'm still deciding on colors.

Smokering - you have me thinking about making an activity mat now! We have one we were given with DD, but it's not handmade, and it would be neat to have one that's really special. I'll have to google around for inspiration.

I'm sure I'll be adding more things to the list as I get further along...

i plan on finding out the gender and also plan on doing the fun 3-d ultrasound like i did with my other two kids since it's neat and a great way to confirm gender for sure.

I plan on sewing a ring sling for myself sometime before baby is born, i'll probably wait til the last minute lol

i'm a beginner quilter, i had started on a simple '9 square' quilt before i was pregnant. i was going to make it big, but when i found out i was pregnant i realized i had the perfect size for a little play quilt. i'm hand quilting to keep me busy for the next 9 months.

I'm also a beginner quilter. For my first pg in April I made a receiving blanket. It was a little sad finishing it after my m/c, but still very cute.

My next project is a Queen sized quilt for our bed. ...hopefully the weather will get a little cooler so I'm more motivated.

My Mom gave me her Pfaff sewing machine and I haven't tried to use it yet. It scares me. I know it's a great machine, but it seems so different from the cheaper machines I learned on.

raindaisie: Here's the activity quilt I made for my nephew. It took ages, and is by no means a prime example of quilting or embroidery or... anything, really... but SIL really liked it. It was a fun project. I just made up the design myself and bought a whole bunch of brown and blue fabrics - it was meant to be gender-neutral, but looking at it, it's probably just as well he was a boy! The trick is just to sew everything down REALLY well and make sure nothing can choke a baby or otherwise cause havoc and messy death.

The farm theme was fun, but I also considered a garden theme in springy colours, a duckpond-shaped quilt with ducks and fish and frogs and bullrushes, a Noah's Ark-type theme, and a zoo theme. Not sure what I'll do if I make one for my own baby...

I am a knitter and a sewer. This is my first baby but I have always loved knitting baby things because they are so fast and so cute! I have already made (and hoarded instead of gifted) baby leg warmers, a little knit lamb, 2 nursing covers, 3 ring slings, 2 wool diaper covers, and a play quilt. This was before I found out I was pregnant, not just in the past 6 weeks :-D. I have played around making diapers before but I will get serious now that I am actually prego! Great thread by the way!

ps. My mom is a fantastic knitter and she has already knit a baby coat, little organic cotten hoodie, soldier sweater, crocheted lacy baby top, and has started an eyelet blanket...she puts me to shame!

I am also on Ravelry and my sn is siobhanwhite

Wow, I am not as crafty as you wonderful ladies, but I am really going to persue knitting a little white sweater/layette set for this baby. I really wanted to for my first, but I was working full time. I am more of a crocheter than a knitter, but I love the look of knit and will do my best to make this happen. If I achieve this, I'd love to knit little wool soakers, longies, and maybe a wool sleep sack (that doubles as a diaper cover).

I will probably sew up a maternity skirt or jumper if I can find a good pattern. I prefer wearing skirts and dresses to pants. I mostly wear skirts because of nursing my DD, but we may get to the point where we are only nursing morning and evening and I can wear some of the cute maternity dresses I wore last pregnancy. I also was looking at sewing up a mei tai. I have one I love, but I'd love to get good enough to give them as to friends.

Just some thoughts. I had better get moving on them though. 7.5 months SEEMS like a long time, but knowing me, I'll be doing good just to do one baby sweater!

Already started knitting a nice organic cotton hat in verigated yellos and beiges as we don't want to know the sex this time. Will start diaper covers after I finish the hat and the top I had already started for my 5 yr. old. Leg warmers for chilly June nights and camping are on the list too.

I can't really get motivated for baby knitting for a summer baby. I know I want to do a blanket. And maybe a blanket for DS so he gets something special. Probably some soakers. That'll be it until cold weather time. I have some beautiful blue/brown Tosh I want to make a kimono with for the fall/winter. I just hate working with cotton, so baby will likely get nothing until I can bundle him.

ditto! I hate working with cotton unless I am sewing with it. Something about how it slides or doesn't slide through my fingers...yuck!

What about using a nice soft dk yarn instead of cotton since you don't like working with cotton ?

I just made a tank and matching hat and mitts for baby all in a nice soft dk yarn.

DK weight what? Wool? Acrylic?

This is the yarn i've been using, it seems like it'd be great for a summer baby, nice and soft but noy a heavy feeling to it.
