HELP getting a grant?

so i filled out the fasa and it told me i should qualify for x amount of money from the pell grant. but how to actually apply for that? i went to the fasa website and the pell grant website and everything just says 'fill out your fasa'

I can't go back to school without the grant but there is some step i'm not seeing... help?

You have to have your results sent to the school that you plan on attending, and then they will send you a financial aid award letter stating how much money you are going to get.

I filled out the FAFSA and applied to the school. When the school accepted me they let me know how much grant money I would receive (Pell plus a couple others). That was it. I didn't have to do anything else.

Glad you figured it out. Your school(s) will send you award letters before the semester begins, so at that point, you can decide if you can afford to go to school - usually you will already have had to register for classes, but every school has a different timeframe. If your EFC was low enough (or zero), you will likely get the full pell-grant. Which, I believe for 2010-2011 school year is $5550 (per year). The only thing is that when you apply late - the best time to appy is right after you file taxes, so early Feb. at latest - there may be less grant money available depending on your school and the needs of other students there. But the following year (you re-apply yearly) you should get the max amount... again, assuming your EFC is low enough.
