Hi all, new the the board, dont know if im placing this in the right section but here it goes. My son was brought to the dr for a double ear infection that had not gone away in a month, put him on a new antibiotic, did a cbc because of a swollen lymph node in on the back of the ear, heres where the problem came in they saw my husbands history of blood in the urine/kidney stones and on the off chance the peditrician wanted to do a urine culture just a precaution on my son, so they did it came back positive with greater than 100,000 of staph present in his urine. She says staph is not very common from her experience its usually e-coli. so 5 days after finish antibiotics to go back have a catheter done and go for a kidney ultrasound does this sound pretty standard to everyone? Thanks in advance for the help

From my experience, it is standard to check and make sure that the antibiotics have killed all of the bacteria that caused the infection. This will give you much peace of mind. Also, the kidney ultrasound can possibly show any developmental abnormalities. This is a pretty standard check for little ones and first uti. Again, this is from my experience.

I sure hope your son is feeling better real soon. After being on those antibiotics, be sure to get him on a good age appropriate probiotic.
