Annovulatory cycles

I believe I'm having an annovulatory cycle, which I don't think I've ever had before. http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/MommyMatsumoto

For those that have/had annovulatory cycles, how do you know that you're not ovulating? Does it happen once in a while or a lot? What do you do to induce ovulation?

I guess I just want some reassurance that I'll ovulate next cycle and that this might be a freak thing that happens every so often. I started taking 450mg of vitex every day just a few days ago in hopes that it would get things working again.

Any advice/information is appreciated! TIA!

I had one majorly fluke cycle ever that I know of. Usually I ovulate around 14-17dpo...

I don't know for sure that it was anovulatory... but if not I had to have ovulated right around when my period was due for my period to be as late as it was!

I know it is totally normal for us to have that happen even in the absence of stress or sickness or any other possible cause... and its nothing worth worrying about unless it happens often.

So... theres no reason to believe that if this indeed is an anovulatory cycle (or even if it ends up being a really late ovulatory cycle) that there is anything wrong based on just one cycle... and you could totally go right back to normal after this!

Definitely normal to have anovulatory cycles every now and then. Since TTC I've had two cycles with no ovulation, and before that I assume I also had one or two a year, based on cycle length and weirdness. My doctor took a look at my charts at my last appointment and agreed that I ovulate eventually in the vast majority of my cycles, and she also said occasionally not ovulating is just something that happens.

So, in other words, I agree with MP--as long as you don't have several months of not ovulating you have nothing to worry about. Plus, there's no reason to think you won't still have a delayed ovulation this cycle--that happens to me sometimes, too. It's a real pain in the booty when you're TTC, though!

Thank you both for your input and personal stories! I feel completely reassured now and will try not to stress until it's a frequent occurance.

Thanks again!

I recently read that the "average" woman has 2 annovulatory cycles per year, so it's probably nothing to worry about.

If for some reason you get to like, day 45 or something and you still haven't ovulated or started AF, you can take Provera to induce a period and "reset" yourself.

@MaerynPearl, thanks! You're right, I need to stop thinking that I WILL have a problem and stay positive!

@Calycanth, that is VERY reassuring! Thank you!

@Maurine, good to know! I'm on CD30 right now so CD45 doesn't seem that far off, unfortunately.
