scratching, clawing, pinching

My 12mos old is constantly clawing, scratching and pinching me all night long until he is asleep, and unfortunately he doesn't sleep much. I feel like I am going to jump out of my skin; it is driving me crazy.
It's been on-going for a while but my tolerance level is now shot. If I hold his hand down to stop him he screams until I let his hand go. If I wear a long sleeve shirt to bed he will search with his hand until he finds a bit of bare flesh to claw at. Any tips to get him to stop?

Something else to claw/scratch/pinch? Some interesting sensory toys e.g. Koosh? Gel something? They make all kinds of weird plastic stuff these days. Fur? Something deliciously fun to touch. Satin? Good luck!!!

We went through this in August when my DD was 12 mos old. NOTHING worked.

Until we cut dairy. We just did it over the last few weeks and her scratching is finally subsiding. It had reduced some, but cutting dairy (for other reasons) finally took care of her need to attack my flesh.

Good luck!

We've cut everything from his diet. All he is eating right now is turkey, potatoes, pears and zucchini. I've also cut out a lot of stuff from my diet. He does have tummy trouble (which we're working on resolving) so I wonder if the pinching, etc is b/c of his discomfort.

I'm dealing w the same thing here. No advice, just commiseration.
