I am trying hard to just hang in there. My original due date by my calculation was Oct 22nd. I kept very good records. Then I had an ultrasound and they said the baby was measuring a month bigger and decided to move my date up an entire month. It seemed the best thing to do because my midwife said if I went into labor before 37 weeks I would have to go to the hospital to give birth. I had my DS at 38 weeks and my DD at 36 weeks and 6 days, so I didn't want to take any chances. Well now it is almost 3 weeks past and I am miserable. I feel like they have made a mistake of course, but the thought of possibly going another month is just depressing. I have been in the mindset of being due now for almost a month!!!! I measure just a little bigger (37 cm) than I did with my other two, gained maybe an extra pound and the midwives are feeling and saying the baby is about 6 1/2 lbs. now, which they've been saying for 3 weeks!!!!! There are two midwives that feel my stomach and say this baby is 6 1/2 lbs. Can they really tell by that? It seems like everything else has been wrong. I've had a 7.10 lb DS and a 6.3 lb. DD, and I am afraid of having a big baby. This will be my first time in a birthing center, 2nd time having a natural birth with no meds. I did not tear with either of the other two, but that is my biggest fear. Has anyone else ever had them change your due date and be wrong? I am just tired and scared!!!!

I've never had the edd switch, but I can imagine how frustrated you are right now! If you were very sure of your dates, I would be more inclined to go with that as opposed the the u/s dates, esp if the u.s was not a super early one.
As for m/ws being able to tell the baby's size by feel, I think many can. If it's something they do often, rI would trust that they will be fairly close on the weight.
Hang in there mama! You will have this babe soon and you WILL be able to do it!

With DD1, my orig. due date was Oct 20. Then they did the u/s and shifted it almost a month, to Nov. 16. She came Nov 11. The ever shifting due date is frustrating, and I know from experience that it is easier to go early than late. But it sounds like your growth is normal, and baby could come any time. Hang in there and go get a NST if it wil ease your mind.

Wendy--
It seems very plain to me that changing the edd was just incorrect. It sounds like you are exactly where you ought to be, for a woman at about 38wks or so gestation. I don't know when the u/s was done that changed your edd, but if it was after about 15wks then the possibility for u/s dating error is very much present. The later the u/s, the greater it's margin for error. I would trust a mama's own records and knowledge of her body far above any other method of determining edd.
I'm pretty good at estimating baby size by palpation, so maybe your mw's estimates are about right. But your baby could well be a pound or more heavier than their estimate (or lighter, but in your case I doubt it)...it's not an exact science by any means!
