Chicken Pox? And if so...now what?

My DD has a rash. Or a LOT of bug bites. And after about 9 days of this bug-bite sitch, she had one day with a pretty high fever and nausea. 1 day later, she's back to her sunny self, but still with the rash. It's now been 14 days since the first "bites" (or whatever they are) appeared.

None of the rest of us have more than a few typically seasonal bug bites. I did a flea wash, checked like crazy for bed bugs (not very common in Oregon, even in this new bed bug epidemic), and finally have wondered if it could be a really atypical Chicken Pox?

The rash still looks (and itches) like bug bites, not scabby or in unusual locations like Pox. However, a COUPLE of the newer bumps have blisters or scabs. So...??? Is it? Is it not? HIGHLY MYSTERIOUS!!

I'm taking her to our MD for a look-see (in the parking lot of the clinic!!) this afternoon, but I am pretty sure it will remain a head-scratcher, as she really doesn't look poxy, but DOES look rashy.

Has anybody seen CP look like this one? And now that it's already been 14 days, if they think it IS Pox, do I have to quarantine her after the fact?

So...

a) I dislike that my selective-vax-supporting MD wasn't in the office to examine Z, and the visiting adult MD decided that it was appropriate to lecture me on my grievous community irresponsibility by not vaccing my DD while she examined her. Seriously, of COURSE I want to be a terrible mother AND community member. That's the ONLY thing I live for.

b) She said it's not pox. I'm going to get a titre test during our annual visit to verify, becuase I'm so flummoxed as to what else would cause this extensive of an itchy, poxy rash.

Glad it's not the pox (or maybe not, it'd been nice to get it over with).

Sorry about the doc. Yeah I ended up with something similar happening when my normal doc was out and my son's ear drum ruptured. (Why that should lead to a lecture about how I'm a horrible mother, I don't know.)

Anyways, have you looked into allergies. Not only contact allergies, but food allergies could cause that sort of reaction. What did the doc say it was?

If you get a diagnosis/test, let us know what it was....

Today we are leaning toward a flea-bite allergy. Although none of us have many flea bites (particularly compared to DD), DH, DD and I do suddenly have more now that the weather has gotten colder. I think she's possibly very a) very delicious to fleas and b) very allergic to flea bites
