Anyone know? I buy from frugi.com a lot for clothes already made (they have all organic cotton) and started buying from etsy and diapperswappers and they are getting organic cotton velour, wool yarn, organic cotton prints/plain fabric somewhere for a great price. I would love to start to make our own clothes. I just took a sewing class and I am hoping I can do it!!!

Please let me know if you guys know where I could find any great fabrics. We are having a baby in June and I would like to make some clothes for the baby and my two other children and I would be thilled to have some natural fabrics!!!

TIA

Atlantis Fabrics for organic cottons, you do need to place a fairly large order though.

As a design student and crafting mommy, this is my idea of heaven.

I just placed my first order with Near Sea Naturals (www.nearseanaturals.com) because I want to make my kids all organic undergarments (underwear, undershirts, long-johns, etc.). They are having a great "Yard" Sale right now so even though I'm in Canada, the prices are fabulous. I was about to place an order with Hanna Andersson for underwear for all 3 kids and it came to $560.00. Instead I bought enough organic fabric to make my own (a friend and I went in on it together because they give further discounts for 10 + yards) for $60!! With the $500 I "saved" I'm going to buy myself a new serger so that I can sew up knits really quickly and easily. We also just got it in a natural (undyed) colour and we're going to have some fun experimenting with plant dyes. Can you tell I'm excited? lol.

You can definitely do it! Baby stuff is SO fun and quick to sew!! You're going to love it.

awww! Thank you so much ladies for the wonderful sites and the inspiration to start!

I have access to a sewing/knitting class down the road from my house that meets 2X a week from 7-9:30 it is $5 per class. It is literally within walking distance from my house and the children usually go to bed around 7/7:30pm. The other two days of the week are for woodworking. You can bring anything you are working on and the lady who is a master woodworker, knits, crochets and sews is so knowledgeable!! So I think I am going to get some fabric and just go down and start!! I need to definitely learn before the baby comes!!!!
