Singular??? (for asthma preventative)

Please tell me your pro's and con's of this medication.

I have tried a slew of natural ways of dealing w/ allergies and now I've just had my 3rd ER visit (this last one w/ hospital stay) and am at my wits end.

We have have the ALCAT,so I know his food intolerances. Just had blood drawn for the Northeastern (or whatever that is) in the hosptial and waiting results.

My son is only 2.5 and we do know he has seasonal allergies, but colds also catapult him into major asthma fits and I am trying to get to the bottom of what his triggers are.

His pedi wants to start Singluar and this scares me. I will get him to his Naturopath asap ($$$) to seek her advice, but in the meantime I need advice in what to do.

My son gets chriopractics weekly, probiotices daily and fish oil when I can manage to get it in him..

(apoligies for this being all over the place-extremely sleep diprived)

My 4 year old has been on Singulair since 2.5. At first they were hoping to take him off after peak allergy season, but whenever he went off he had major asthma attacks. I hate giving my kids medicine, but I hate even more having him struggle to breathe and wondering what might happen if he had an attack while asleep.

I noticed an immediate improvement when we started Singulair -- my son had had a perpetually drippy nose from under a year old and it dried up right away -- in fact, he wouldn't get drippy even with a cold the first time he was on it. When he went off the runny nose returned full force and when he went back on it dried up again but he is capable of getting congested now.

I have not noticed any negative side effects, though by now I don't know if I could notice -- he is just himself, meds included.
