Heard heartbeat for first time!

Went for my 12 week appt today and heard the heartbeat! I was supposed to have an ultrasound, which I was really looking forward to, but my doctor was away on a delivery so the nurse just listened for the heartbeat. She picked it up after about ten seconds. It was so strong and loud, I couldn't believe it was coming from something so small! She didn't count the bpm but I recorded it for my DH and when I got home I counted them--26 beats in 10 seconds, or 156 bpm!

I'm hoping they'll say to come in for a makeup ultrasound. I know not everyone likes to get the ultrasounds but for me it feels important in not only reassuring me (previous loss) but helping me feel that every thing is real. I'm still not totally there yet.

The nurse also said I was long-waisted, so it might be a while before I start to show.

WOW. I felt like I was receiving an alien transmission from outer space--it was almost eerie, in a beautiful way.

Awesome. Hearing the heartbeat is amazing. I can't wait to hear this one's HB. I know what you mean about US's. I don't like the possible risks, but it's very important to me to know that all is well in there.

Blanca73- We heard the heart beat for the first time today too! The midwife came over for our 3 month visit and she picked it up right away on the dopler. It was really exciting and my stepson got to hear it too. It's so reasuring to hear it even though I know the baby is healthy.

DH was pretty wowed by the recording, I think, though he didn't say much beyond, "Whoah. Cool." Later that night, though, he put his hand on my belly and out of nowhere said, "I want to feel the baby kicking NOW!" It was sooo sweet. It's becoming more real for both of us.

Yay!
I heard ours too today for the first time, it was so great and made this pregnancy finally 'real'. I wish I could go back and listen to it again, it was such a moving sound
