(Hope you have time for a long one
)
...and also had a membrane strip. About half an hour later I started feeling contractions. They are weak, but a bit painful and don't really have a pattern yet. Both baby and I are doing well according to the NST and the ultrasound. The "I" word came up immediately from the on-call DR. (who happens to be the Dr. I saw a few times this pg before I started UPing). It's cause there is confusion about my dates. My LMP puts me at almost 42 weeks pg, but my cycles are never standard 28 day cycles, so I am confident that I am almost 41 weeks, because my cycles are usually about 38 days long. The Dr. told me she was unwilling to adjust my due date based on a longer cycle. I told her I was. I think it is ridiculous to not take cycle length into consideration, I didn't say that though. At this point there was thick tension in the room and my dh thought the Dr. and I were kind of being catty with each other. But I was just sticking up for myself
. So she consulted with an OBGYN and surprise, surprise...he agreed with me that I am not as far along. Although he did say that the placenta will deteriorate starting at 41 weeks (have to ponder that a bit...input welcome!) and put me in for an induction on Friday afternoon if I haven't had this baby yet. I still need to think that one over because my dh is out of town until about 11pm on Friday and the thought of going to be induced alone isn't appealing to me. I think I feel safe waiting until Monday. Oh wow, I always think the worst will happen. I've had 3 contractions while writing this! Hopefully the induction will be a non-issue. If I go through the next few days feeling this pain every few minutes, I'll be begging for and induction anyways
.
Anyways, if you have gotten this far, thanks. I just needed somewhere to talk a bit.
