So I posted a few weeks ago about a yeast infection. Got advice to use GSE, went away. Then a couple weeks later it came back. Same remedy, same result. Now this is the third month when I've just dealt with the infection again. What the heck is going on?! I've read about candida and the diet etc. but what I don't get is is the infection related to age? I've always had the same diet (we're Asian so I still cook a lot of what I grew up eating), not too many desserts/sugar eater. What's changed? Childbirth? Age? Is it related to ovulation cuz I seem to notice it recurs a week or so before my period. I can do the diet and see but I'm just trying to understand the why of it. Anyone know?

I think I got one about the same time in my cycle wit my first postpartum cycle, I'm certain the hormone levels at that time triggered it. I went on a mini-fast (1 day only, breastfeeding or I'd try longer, it felt right to do) then cut out all sweets and starches and fruit for a few days, applied garlic and plain yogurt to the external affected areas (stung but then soothed). Before I suspected it was yeast I dtd with DH and he got itchy for a day, so take care to abstain and not pass yeast back and forth. I'll bet yours are recurring because you didn't beat the yeast thoroughly and the point in your cycles triggered their return, hopefully with the diet you can totally rid yourself of it.

Before I had kids and was taking the pill, many years ago, I had recurring yeast infections. It was so awful. It got to the point where my Dr. wrote me a perscription for Diflucan and put 20 refills on it. This stopped happening to me when I stopped taking the pill.
I don't know if you are on the pill or not but I just thought I would share that with you. Taking acidophilous (sp?) daily makes a huge difference and eating yogurt helps too. You can actually even use acidophilous tablets as a suppository to help it get there quicker. Sounds like you are already wise to cutting out sugar. Wearing breathable cotton underwear, changing out of swimwear (I got a bad one once from sitting in a wet bathing suit all afternoon) and sweaty exercise clothes. When you are at home it can help to wear a long skirt with no underwear to keep air moving.
Maybe try to pay attention to what is going on in your body, diet, stress level etc. at the time they seem to come back and start changing one thing at a time until you figure out what is causing it. Yeast infections are the worst - I am so sorry you are dealing with this.
