circed boy + pottying

so i'm watching a boy this month and he is working on potty training. My own sons sit on the potty and it just goes straight down but this boy circ'ed and his penis wont face down it points up... i've tried just kinda pushing it down into the toilet bowel but it wont stay... gets pee everywhere!

we have the once upon a potty.... HELP? tricks?

Have him sit farther back on the seat and lean forward? Like resting his elbows on his knees. It helps with girls spraying.

Can he continue to hold it down while he pees? Or is there just not... enough?.... for that to work?

Maybe a splash guard?

Can't you just show him how to point it down while he's peeing? That's what DH does.

I've always heard that you have to teach potty training boys to hold their penises down and I assume that advice has always been about circ'd boys. I don't know why there is a difference like that, but I had no clue an intact boy wouldn't have the same need I just assumed little boys had to hold their penises down if they weren't standing to pee.

My son is intact and he doesn't hold it down. He kind of leans forward and aims naturally, but it doesn't seem difficult for him.

My DS is circ'ed (unfortunately, next boy won't be!) and we don't have this issue so maybe it's not a circ thing just he naturally... points up?? Anyway... If a splash guard and/or holding it down doesn't work, could he pee standing up?? DS prefers to pee standing actually... and it just naturally points down... I don't know???

sit him on the potty backwards.

I don't think it has anything to do with being circd. My intact son pees over the gaurd on the potty topper about 75% of the time. If I try to tell him to hold his penis down to pee, he can't pee. what helped is the fisher price turtle potty topper because it has a higher gaurd and angles him forward - similar to everyone's advice to have him lean forward. Also the baby bjorn potty and the fisher price frog potty keep all the pee in 100% of the time - but then you have to deal with dumping and cleaning.

A trick that was told to me by a friend with 2 boys. Make it a game for them to get it in the potty. Toss a couple of cheerios or some other round flushable thing in the toilet. Have them aim for it! It's worked for everyone I know who's tried it.

He needs to hold it down a bit in the right direction...

Point down is pretty much what I say to DS as soon as he sits down on the potty, sometimes those stupid splash guards at more like a sprayer if he hits it just right. Anyway, point down and sit farther back on the toliet, legs spread (according to DS this involves taking his pants, shoes and undies off for maximum spread)

And the Baby Bjorn potty and potty topper are the BEST as far as getting pee in and not out.
