Hey there, Indiana folks! I'm relatively new to this area (it's been 7.5 years but I'm very much a transplant) and am curious about this - how far east do you consider northwest Indiana to include? I always think of Lake and Porter counties and perhaps Newton, Jasper, and LaPorte. I think Lake and Porter as the folks who are most likely to commute to Chicago, giving those counties a more suburban feel. What do you think?

I agree with you, Lake and Porter, with perhaps Newton, Jasper and LaPorte. To me, South Bend, Elkhart etc is firmly in eastern territory. I'm in Porter county, lived here most of my life (22 years). I suppose, I mostly think, areas on Central time are NW, and areas on Eastern are East (and South, and everywhere else)

Welcome!!  I'm in Lake County; we've been here almost four years.  Due to DH's job we travel around quite a bit, but our homebase is Indiana.  These forums have been a great resource and many times a great comfort to me in our TTC journey...

Hi Mamas, I am Lauren, a birth doula + aspiring CPM.

I visit my family in Plymouth, IN which is in Marshall county somewhat close to South Bend and St. Joe's county i believe.

She's probably going to join mothering as she is hoping to conceive and have a homebirth.

I am seeking reccomendations for ANY and ALL midwives who do homebirths. Her midwife will not do them.

The Midwife can be over an hour from Plymouth...we'd be glad to have ANY leads. You can email me if you'd like.

Laur318@yahoo.com.

Thank you soooooo very much.

Oh, and forgot to mention that I am in LaPorte County. I consider NW Indiana to be Lake, Porter and LaPorte. I never even thought of some of the more Southern counties as NW Indiana.
