Don't go to Waldorf BUT.....

is my son still allowed to join in on celebrations? What I mean is, if the nearest school is having a May day celebration or something, are children who don't attend the school (homeschooled) invited? Are there certain requirements to join in? Thank you!

I think it depends on the school. Where we used to live we participated in the events (yes when dd was under 18 months) and didn't go to the school. Where we live now they don't have as many events and we would be the only people who don't attend the school there. Maybe when dd is older we will participate, but for now I'm just going to leave it. Plus you have to join the society which is $100 whereas at our old school, other than their "big" events (both the may day and winter solstice celebration cost $5 each, but these were huge events) they were free.

I think it depends on the school.

We have a school about 40 minutes away that we are on their mailing list and they have lots of activities that are technically open to the public. Although most of the events we are one of only a very few number that are not enrolled in the school.

But then a few times a year - and specificaly for Christmas - they put on big festivals, and then, lots of people come, even 'mainstream' because they put on great activites, and those do cost.

Our school has big, magical events that the community is invited to. The Halloween event was very popular.

We live near a W school that does 2 public events per year: one at Christmas and one at May Day. As far as I know, these are the only events open to non-school attendees. See if you can check the school calendar for "faire" dates.

My friends kids attend a W school (we do not) and she always calls to invite us.
