Looking for a very specific colorway **I think I found it**

I want to knit my spouses mom a shawl for Christmas but I am having a hard time finding the colorway I want. She is an AKA and I want it to be those colors... I've looked and not found anything that is quite right... TIG Florry is the closest I have found. If you guys have seen this, I would be very happy if you could point me in that direction...

Here is a link so you can see the colors...

What weight yarn are you looking for? I can help find some if you'd like.

Worsted... maybe DK...

Thanks! Again

My eyes are going blurry from looking at so many different yarns...

I know the feeling. I'll see what I can find.

I found this, but it's cotton.

I'm still looking!

I showed that to my spouse and he said that would probably work. I am also toying with the idea of using something like Cascades Ultra Pima because it it is washable, and kinda shines so it looks a bit more fancy and both colors are offered. But I would have to find a pattern that works two colors and I am having a hard time finding a pattern that I like...

What about Paton's silk bamboo in Coral and Moss? http://www.patonsyarns.com/product.php?LGC=silkbamboo

What are you looking for in a pattern? What shape? Lace or more solid? Difficulty level?

I am looking for something clapotis-y... No harder than intermediate

There are dyers on hyenacart and etsy who could custom dye yarn for you. I'd be happy to suggest a couple or you could just do a search.

Actually I would love for you to suggest some. I considered that but I was concerned that I don't "know" the yarn. I want it to be good, nice and soft. If I can get pointed to some dyers that people have experience with, that would be fantastic. I just want to make her something nice, ya know... she is older and has health issues and I actually like her...

It's super simple but I liked this one http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/libr...y-market-shawl, did it in bulky with size 11 needles, a little less loose than stated but still open. You could alternate two colors or use a multicolored yarn.

I think I found it!

I think I found a colorway that matches really well. Here it is: THE YARN! Matches pretty well, I think.

Now my question is, since this is more expensive than any yarn I have ever purchased, and I am going to have to budget for it in the next few weeks, anyone have any experience with that yarn? I have never used any Handmaiden before and nothing of that kind of blend, I don't think. Is it as yummy as it looks?

Oh I just remembered one issue, silk yarns are LOVELY and I've heard nothing but great things about handmaiden seasilk, BUT it's slippery and won't work in a clapotis drop stitch shawl, won't hold the ladders. Another simple lacy one with yarn-overs would be great though, so nice.

That is what I was thinking would be an issue. My only really attachment to the Clapotis patter is the angle. I really like that feature because it helps it work well as a wrap and more like a scarf so she could use it either way. So I am trying to find something similar.

This is my sorority, too. The official colors are salmon pink and apple green. The green in this kind of mossy to me. Little Turtle Knits has/had a colorway that I thought matched pretty well. Be right back . . .

ETA: It was called Strawberry Fields, but I don't see it on the site. Oh, and I do have a skein of this yarn (I gave away the other one). It is quite yummy, but I've not knit mine up, so, I can't really tell how it wears or anything.

I actually knit a clapotis in Debbie Bliss Pure Silk and did not have the problem you've described. It worked just fine.

Well.... This is the actual yarn I ended up purchasing.... It seems more true than the other... Will it work, do you think... Or should I not mention what colors I was going for? she doesn't know that I know about her sorority...
