A vent and a question

I'm TTC, on my own. I just had my first IUI yesterday and hopefully this will give me a healthy pregnancy with a baby that will live and breathe outside of my belly.

I work full time from home and my shift is 3pm-12am. I figured that it would be nice to get a retail job for the holidays and Target offers a morning shift that's only 20 hours per week so I applied, thinking that I could direct deposit my pay straight into my savings account and have a couple thousand in funds not earmarked for anything, in case of emergency or for baby stuff. A week later they called and I spoke with HR, telling them that I was employed full time and could only work the morning shift and tat I lived less than a three minute drive from the store. I told them that if my having primary employment and being unable to commit to a flexible schedule was a problem, then I thank them for their interest but I wouldn't be able to interview. HR said that they would call me back.

I let it go, thinking that maybe it just wasn't meant to be. Twenty minutes later I got another call, from the first persons supervisor, saying that she reviewed my application and would like to accommodate my schedule, then requested to interview me on my lunch hour and that I'd be in an out in under 30 minutes. (this week and next week I'm working 9-6 for a training thing). She even said that she'd be happy to set my start date for next Monday.

So I go on my lunch hour, at 1pm. I showed up at 12:55. I sat. And I waited. And I sat. And waited some more. She finally emerged from her office at 1:45.

We talked about my retail experience for about 3 minutes, then she looked at my resume and asked me about my current job. When I confirmed that I held the position and began to tell her about my duties, she reached under her desk and pulled out her computer. Her personal computer. Then she handed it to me and asked me if I could take a quick look at it because she was having trouble saving school work to the hard drive and unable to convert .docx files to .doc files. It only took me about five minutes to find the problem, fix it, and show her how to convert the files. After that she asked me if she could call me if she hd any additional questions. I really don;t know if she meant questions about the position or about the computer, but I told her yes.

I was beyond surprised when she stood after that and extended her hand, signaling that the interview was over. As I shook her hand, she asked me if I had time for a second interview, because she knew that I was on my lunch break. It was after 2:00, so I requested to schedule the second interview with HR and she said that that was fine and wrote my name on her calendar for three days later at 1:00, saying that she and her coworker would like to see me then. I thanked her then walked to my car and drove home.

This morning she called me again, saying that she liked me but that I really didn't have the time to devote to the position, as it is very demanding (the position was straightening the childrens and womens departments at Target after the stock people brought the clothes in. How demanding could it be?)

I thanked her for her time and asked her to keep my application on file should another opportunity present itself. She said that she would and hung up.

Then I thought about it. I made my availability crystal clear on the application. I specifically applied for that position because of the hours. I repeated the same information when they called. She came back to ME. She offered to interview me on my lunch break.

And she just so happened to have her computer- her personal computer- that she was having problems with under her desk?

Did that woman really just look at my application, see that I worked in tech support, and call me in to interview so that she could get free computer service?

Oooh, that would seriously tick me off. Its a real breach of professionalism for her to bring her personal stuff out for you to examine. I don't think it would be out of line for you to go over her head and complain honestly.

I would report her too. Completely inappropriate.
