Need serious help for 8yo dd please!

My 8yo dd has had problems with tooth decay since she was 2 or younger (can't remember). It has never gotten better. She has has tooth extractions, crowns, and a root canal. She has 3 cavities currently. She had one filled and it is constantly chipping. It now looks really broken and is grey with a little blue. I'm very sure it will be extracted. I feel really bad for her and she hates seeing the dentist. She doesn't brush her teeth daily. Its probably more like 3 times a week. Anyway, I need to really get on this. I also need to know how long it will take to see results. She is the only kid that has serious problems with her teeth. I have not been good at staying on top of cleaning the 3yo and 14 mo's teeth just because they don't like me messing around in their mouth.

I also wanted to ask because their is a co-op on tooth soap, if I should buy some of those?

Why is she not brushing her teeth at least daily (twice daily would be great)? If she hates seeing the dentist does she realize that by not brushing she is causing this to happen? What about using some sort of sticker chart (she gets a sticker every time she brushes her teeth and after 14 stickers she gets a prize?

Tooth soap will do no good if it just sits in a drawer, just like toothpaste.

Please get a plan together to ensure tooth brushing for ALL of your children. I can only imagine the pain she is/has been through

Yes we've told her that if she doesn't brush that she will end up going to the dentist. We ask her to brush her teeth and sometimes we forget to tell her. I know that we need to brush daily and 3 times at least but, I came here looking for what else we can do to help.

Tooth brushing doesn't have as much to do with tooth health as nutrition does.

Is it possible she has food allergies/compromised digestion and nutrient absorption?

She does have a sweet tooth and has been drinking more sodas. I'm cutting sweets and sodas out completely. I don't know of any allergies. I also have access to raw milk so I'll buy that and they have really yellow butter but couldn't tell me if the cows were grass fed (this is a health store not direct from the farmer) but I assume they are. I also read to buy high vitamin butter oil and fermented cod liver oil. I'm going to try to order that this week. We've been relying a lot on cereal/milk for breakfast but I can definitely do eggs if that would be a better choice. Dinners are 95% non processed. I tend to buy quick stuff for lunch.

She is using a toms of maine flouride toothpaste and I want to switch to something better. I"m confused as I've heard both sides say tooth soap/xylitol has worked for them.

Eggs definitely better choice. The more yolks, and the darker yolks, the better. It's all about minerals in diet: calcium, magnesium, phosphorus plus the fat soluble vitamins to enable absorption of minerals. When a high mineral diet is given, it has been shown that the bacterial count in the mouth goes down. The saliva is meant to constantly bathe the teeth in minerals.

Sodas really mess with your mineral absoption, the phosphoric acid in them not to mention the sugar. A high sugar diet is a mineral sucker, it literally uses minerals from your body to process it.

We get pastured eggs (the chickens follow the cows around the farm and eat lots of bugs that, um, are attracted to cow manure, but the bugs make for a very high vitamin yolk, they look like orange juice when scrambled!)

I'd get her vitamin D levels checked too depending on where you live.

I like Toothsoap alot, the liquid version is sweet enough for kids. We stay away from fluoride personally.

Oh and yes really yellow butter, if doesn't have food coloring added, means it's grass fed. It's higher in vitamin A and also K2, that all important fat soluble vitamin known as "The Price Factor" that is essential for good calcium metabolism:

Have you considered cell salts? they are just so effective for kids in rebuilding the mineral matrix and allowing the body to access minerals. I would definitely do calc fluor to help excrete the flouride, increase bone mass and enamel as well as calc phos. You can consider silica as well to help with the uptake of nutrients and maybe even nat phos to alkalinize. Best of luck.

The cinnamon fermented clo and the butter oil is nasty! eewww! yuck. How do you all take this down? I tried to give it to my 3yo and she spit it out and was trying to wipe it off her tongue. A cup of raw milk a day is enough right? Is there a place you recommend to buy the cell salts? Do I go with 6x or 30x?

definitely 6x. The best brand I've found is BestMade. Love them. I've tried many many brands and their comes out on top in every way. Seroyal is also very good.

Hylands is bottom rung, but still okay. 1800homeopathy.com is fairly good as well. I have used them for a long time, but since discovering BestMade it's all I use.

I think a cup of milk is 250 mg. of calcium? I thought 3 servings of dairy or calcium equivalent were recommended at this age?

My DS takes the plain CLO and butter oil just fine but he is used to it ...since 8 mos. old. Sometimes I gave the CLO to him in a covered sippy cup with juice when he was going thru a phase for a couple months where he wouldn't take off spoon. I used to do the plain in a shot glass of juice but now just take it straight.

I don't know what possessed me to buy cinnamon clo but I've learned my lesson! The butter oil has solidified and I got the "great" idea of putting it on toast or a biscuit. The kids say they can still taste it.

Do you think I should also buy pascalite clay or MI paste?

So far she's
brushing teeth 2-3 times a day
taking her cinnamon clo and butter oil
drinking more raw milk
only organic and/or grass fed meats
no sodas or sweets
and her cell salts will be here Monday

She did end up having two of her teeth extracted this week.

I wanted to give an update and see what you all think. So far: She's doing pretty well at taking her butter/cinnamon clo's. She's brushing her teeth at least twice daily. She is taking cal phos, cal fluor, and silica. We've been doing this since Oct 26. I also just started yesterday giving her and all the other kids bioplasma. The babies love to take it. She lost two teeth this month. She went to the dentist today for a cleaning and they say she has 4 cavities. 2 of the teeth are loose so they said they won't bother filling those. The other two teeth are scheduled to be filled in next month. They say they also want to update her records by doing an x-ray. Sounds weird to me. Like why is it needed you know? But Dh is the one that took her and he  doesn't always think to ask questions. So I think I'll take her next time. They say other than that her teeth look great. I'm hoping by then it will be some difference in her teeth with using the cell salts, oils, tooth soap, etc.

I hope you see some improvements. I started doing all the suggestions here plus lots of homemade high mineral bone broth and green veggies.  The decay halted for the most part but then one cavity got worse and he lost that tooth recently.  I had gotten desperate this year and started flouride rinse but didn't see any improvement from that as far as I can tell.  He drinks a lot of milk kefir too.  I've been doing this for a couple years and am at least happy the other 3 cavities have not changed at all in that time.
