Filed the Petition to Adopt

I just got back from filing my soon-to-be-adopted daughter's adoption petition at the courthouse. Since we are asking the state to waive the 90 day waiting period, I should receive the finalization phone call next month. Which will also be the three year anniversary of her being placed in my home as a foster child.

Thanks. I'm pretty excited. The kids won't know the difference but we'll finally all have the same last name.

I ran into my licensing social worker while I was at DSS getting everything notarized. He asked if I wanted him to close out my license. I told him no, that he could call me if he needed to place a baby. I can't imagine having another child in the house but I'm really getting the urge. So, we'll see what happens.

Heather, I'm really torn. It's nice having two big kids and being able to just go places and not have to worry about bringing a thing. And they play so nicely together a lot of the time (well, when they aren't creating havoc.) But Danger Mouse is such a big girl now. In her first six weeks of her new preschool, she has started writing most of her name, knows most colors and many shapes, can recognize a bunch of letters and numbers, etc. She's 3 3/4 now and although she's still a peanut, she's gone through such a "whoosh" developmentally it's crazy. I'm not complaining, especially with her birth mother's stuff. It's wonderful. But for the first time ever, I'm really wanting to have a baby in the house.

I just got a letter that my licensing worker is moving to the CPS treatment unit so it will likely be a while until I'd get a call, anyway. I've got to think this one through...a lot.

She have been with us for three years at Thanksgiving. She'll be four in February. Goodness, time really does fly.
