New to CD and I hate microfiber/synthetic stuff - Page 2

Just to throw this out there - you may want to consider not investing fully in one kind of diaper (natural vs synthetic) until your LO is born.

I was planning on all-natural fibres next to DS' skin, and bought a stash-worth of Sandy's and Kissas for DS. Only to find that he gets a burning rash in natural fibres and needs synthetics next to his skin to keep him dry. We can't even use something like a Thirsties fitted because sometimes the outside will touch his skin and leave a rash.

Keep your options open. Most kids are fine in both, but sometimes you're constrained.

Thanks for the advice! And yeah, I probably won't invest in TOO many before baby is born. My thought was to buy one of each of the kinds I'm interested in (although I will probably buy a few prefolds/Workhorses since they're so cheap). I hadn't really thought about the fact that we might *need* synthetic fiber next to baby's skin in order to keep him/her dry. (I hope not, but like you said, you never know!)

Gosh, so many decisions! LOL (But I'm enjoying looking at all the cloth dipe options, it's so addictive!)

I've had my DS in cotton diapers for reasons like yours. I've had no problem finding good cotton diapers. I started with GMD organic prefolds and liked them until DS became super mobile and impossible to keep on his back. Now I've switched to fitteds and I'm loving them. Unfortunately, the ones I love the best are not being made anymore (Swaddlebees organic cotton velour diapers and Clovers), but I've been snapping up the few I can find out there on the various cloth diaper websites. Have you checked out diaperpin.com? The diaper reviews on there are super helpful!

Yep! I have a ton of cloth diapers and diapering knowledge, and even I was surprised by how my new baby really only can handle stay-dry diapers. All my lovely cotton and bamboo fitteds are useless without a fleece liner.

As for the texture issue of the microterry, it will stop being irritating after you use it for a few weeks. I personally like it, b/c all diapers can get stinky, and at least with the microterry, you can bleach the inserts with no problem. The stink does not live in the microfleece lining, so no worries there.

Overall, for my 4 kids, I have liked FuzziBunz the best.

I use cotton flats, but fold them so they are shaped like a prefold (fold into quarters and then fold that square in half for a rectangle) and then put them in the cover unpinned. I like how fast flats dry and how they grow with your baby. I highly recommend Green Mountain Diapers too. I love buying diapers there!
