Persimmon allergy? Never heard of it.

Ok, so Ive never had an allergy, and I havent really read a lot about them, so fogive me if these questions are common knowledge.

Has anyone ever heard of an allergy to persimmons? We have given DD persimmons (whole) twice. Both times her face broke out into a rash around her mouth, like some kind of irritation ( not like hives). The first time we thoght it was from the rag that DH used to wipe her face off. We thought the rash was b/c MIL's laundry soap was scented and it was a rag fromher house.

For the past two weeks she has had a diaper rash. She hasnt ever had a rash before. Ive been giving her sippy cups of persimmon/ apple water. I cooked the persimmons and apples together and put them through the food mill and froze them. I put the cubes in the sippy and add a little water to thin it out. She's been eating it about every other day.

Does anyone think there is a such thing? Do food allergies affect the diaper area?

Children can be intolerant or allergic to *any* food.

They affect the diaper area big time. Before we figured that my daughter could not tolerate salicylic acid (which is present is pretty much all fruits and veggies) her skin on her bum was literally burning and melting off the second she pooped.

I would stop giving her both persimmons and apples for a minimum of two weeks and see if it clears up. If it does, you might try her on just apples first and see what happens, but many kiddos react to apples too.

Is she eating other fruits at this time?

Yeah, I agree, you could be allergic to anything.

My mom and I have eggplant intolerances when pregnant. Go figure!

And I do think they affect the diaper area.

I agree with fruitfulmomma's advice.

I'm sorry about that, though, because persimmons are so nummy!
