songs with actions

What songs do you sing with your LOs? How about songs with actions?

I'm just starting to realize that some activities (diaper changes, getting dressed, etc) can be made a lot easier by singing a song to calm/distract DS. But, I'm having trouble thinking of all the songs! I used to work in daycare so I know that once I'm reminded, they should all come back to me.

So, tell me about the songs you sing & if they have actions, even better!

So far, I've remembered:
Itsy Bitsy Spider
Old McDonald
ABC Song
Head, Shoulders, Knees, & Toes

Maybe look up Girl Scout songs? I remember those having hand motions, specifically, "Alice the Camel", the one about Pizza Hut, and Kumbaya. Actually, I think Kumbaya was just done in sign language. But that would be good too!

The wheels on the bus (we make up verses to this too about babies nursing. )
ABC's with fingerspelling http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMQHd1UBkeI
Do you know the colors of the rainbow? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVcJHv32i18
Going outside http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjvgL...eature=channel
Not a song but here's the church, here's the steeple
Patty Cake
A sailor went to See See See
8 little monkeys jumping on the bed (we sign to this)

Plus we make up our own signs/hand movements to a lot of songs.

ETA: She also likes to do exercise videos with me. Not quite singing but she loves to learn different movements.

i like "herman the worm" it's repetative enough, it has the chewing of the bubble gum that the think is hilarious, and you can choose the foods he "eats."

Wheels on the Bus (his current favorite)
Twinkle Twinkle
Open, Shut Them
5 Little Monkeys
6 Little Ducks

That's all I can think of right now... but DS love love LOVES hand-motion songs so I'm hoping I'll get new ideas from this thread too!

Try checking out some sing-a-long CDs from the library. They'll be tons of songs on there to get you memory going, and then you'll have tons of songs to choose from.

We just went to our first Library time (I was amazed... it wasn't books! It was Songs)... and they did Wheels on the Bus, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and others for their time... "clapping because (Rowan) is here... etc.)"... I'll have to write a memo next time. So many songs.

DS loves the one DVD I allow him of singing babies, seriously creepy (from an adult standpoint). But they sing If you're happy and you know it... and he Claps with the babies. He isn't mobile and doesn't know the other parts.. but he definitely claps.

Now that he's been watching that DVD, when I sing, Row Row Row your boat, even in the car, he's so much more interested and throws his hands in the air.

interested in others' stories. Seriously though... check out your local library time. I had no idea songs would be incorporated.

my kiddo ADORES 'if you are happy and you know it' but she likes it BEST if you don't bother singing anything but the first 'if you're happy and you know it ___.' bascially, she likes to play it like simon says showing off everything she knows. clapping hands, stomping feet, spinning, shouting hooray, animal sounds, touching random body partys, playing peekaboo... she LOVES that one.

although its annoying to just sing the one line but iwth different actions subbed in haha

Yay - awesome ideas everyone!!

I will check out the library soon for CDs & story/song time.

Thanks for all the song titles & links, too! I do remember most of these & am learning some new ones, too!

Keep 'em coming if you got 'em!
