i've had 2 family deaths and the death of a person i babysat when they were a young child (he was 17) in the last month.
i'm not sad exactly, i just can't seem to focus properly on much of anything.

That would be pain.

it sounds to me like you are just beginning the grieving phase. reality begins to set in, it can lead to distraction. it can be the beginning of sadness. it can also be a way to protect yourself- your brain is busy trying to hold off emotions and thougths of your loved ones and it can't filter all the thoughts well, so you kind of lose all of your thoughts.

i am grieving now for my brother and i know that i am very distracted.
i can't tell you how many times i have misplaces things, gone grocery shopping w/o my purse, forgot to put shoes on the kids, etc.

Thanks, Ladies.
You're probably right, rachel eva. It does all just seem too surreal still.
I'm sorry for your loss.

I think it is a self preservation mechanism that makes us this way at first. I just lost my sister and spend most of my time in a distracted fog. I leave the faucet on, put laundry detergent in the dryer, forget shoes etc...
I am sorry for your losses.

Hug. I'm in the same mode and I don't really understand it myself. I'm sorry for your losses.
