I've done WW online before and loved it. I'm joining again, but I'm debating buying the at home kit b/c it seems like over the long run it'd be cheaper. Does anyone have any experience with the at home kit and can tell me how they like it? Bonus points if you've done both and can compare.

I"ve done both.
It's a toss-up. I don't know if the at-home has any sort of online component or not these days. When I did it, it didn't. You got a box with basically all of the weekly booklets you'd get at in-person meetings, weekly logs (I think they give you the 3 month books these days), the eating out and regular food guides, exercise and normal food points finders, an exercise DVD, and a subscription to the magazine. The good thing for me is that although I live online, I prefer writing down my meals...so I always buy the books and order the little log book anyway. (Figure $25.00) You can do this if you join online, but you'll pay for them.
Online is great because everythign is so immediate. BUT you can access the forums and a lot of the things without actually paying the monthly fees. You log your meals online...and can save favorite meals which can save time. They have a recipe feature which is nice if you cook a lot. It allows you to enter the ingredients and figure out the points. You could also go to a free site like SparkPeople and do the same thing... and then just use your Pointsfinder to figure out the points per portion based on nutritional info.
They worked about the same for me. I'm great for a week or so, and then I become lazier and lazier recording my meals. I'm a bit better writing them down... but over a few weeks, I stop altogether.
I'm pretty sure you can join online for free right now, so as long as you know that you'll cancel in time... doesn't hurt to try it. Could even order the books and stuff then and save a bit over the at-home fees.
