We're not allowed. Not even allowed to have outdoor cats.

Well that's good news!

Not allowed to have them enclosed even? I haven't checked ordinances here. The last place we live had a 4 animal limit. Period. I thought that was wacky. I mean, I can see for people who hoard animals, but my 4 cats and 1 dog were by no means worth making an ordinance over. I think it was also illegal to feed feral cats.
No, nada. We have an association here.
We're renting out our other house (where our chickens are) to DP's cousin - but nobody there would take care of the cat and there are a lot of highways nearby.

I'm going back and forth about telling the kids. I'm bitchy enough that I could just say, "I found a place for the cat to go & it's FINAL." They'd scream & cry (just the girls, not Ds) but *eventually* they'd get over it. Dd1 is just such a drama queen right now and I feel like we already have a somewhat shaky relationship with her entering the "tween years" and hormones beginning to go wacky, etc. This has definitely been a trial - her preteen hormones & my pregnancy hormones, oy.

arg. i wrote a long post replying to everything going on here and my freaking computer froze as i was going to post it i just dont have the energy to rewrite it all, but i did want to thank you mamas for all of the thoughts and well wishes and concern. it really is appreciated and im feeling quite a bit better today.

kitty, that's great about your pee yay for good things!

meta, kitty: im sorry you and your dp's have had rocky roads. love is a huge challenge and i wish i could be a bit more graceful in it sometimes.

ocelot, congrats on 38 weeks!! hope that baby comes soon! or as soon as you want it to. the waiting is HARD.

birthdance (((hug))) deep breaths. you will do amazingly on your exam. sorry about your lost post. its so irritating. i wish there was a post saver on here like my email has.

Tonight is dh's birthday. I celebrated by having about a quarter cup of wine and falling asleep in the bathtub.

I don't even know what I want at this point. Part of me wants her out now (as long as she's ready, of course!), the other part would rather wait a bit more. I find myself doing the "open, open, open" mental talk during contractions, then realizing "Hey wait, I really would like to be able to take a nice hot shower after the birth!" (No, propane situation isn't resolved yet).

Oh, and my cervix hurts.
Oh, boy, ocelot! I hope the propane gets resolved quickly so your little one can join you.

kitty, so glad you got in and everything is clear! I hope you feel better.

So sorry for all the various animal issues. There are days I'm really glad we don't have any. I had a beloved cat before I married DH, but he's deathly allergic to cats (nearly instant asthmatic reactions) so I left her with my parents. She died of liver failure subsequent to steroid shots she was getting for asthma. Thankfully we had DS1 by then so I had a little someone to love on when she was gone! I never was in charge of feeding or litter boxes for any of our cats in the past (ok, not since someone got a clue that 7 and 8 year olds shouldn't be!) and so I had all the fun and none of the trouble. My boys always say they want a dog. I have 3.5 wild animals already and think that's quite enough.

Saw my MW today. Had a nice chat about birth desires, how the last two went, etc. Went over birth supplies and I ordered the rest of the things I need from inhishands.com - AND it's already shipped! Seriously, they were faster than Amazon. We talked about homeopathics for labor and I was glad to hear that she does, indeed, carry 50 and is comfortable using more than half of those when needed. We talked about Smooth Transitions (supposed to help in transition) and she has that, too, though isn't a huge proponent of it. So if I need it I can have it but I don't have to buy it.

And... I see her NEXT week! I can't believe we're already at the weekly visits mark! I told her about my latest cervical check and she wrote it down which makes it seem official.

Baby's doing well. She said we definitely do not have a 10lb baby. I'm aiming for 7.5lbs so that's good news. Had a little bloody show while checking last night and some today, too. Still too early for it to be significant but it won't be long!

I need to look over my lists AGAIN but they are getting shorter! Air pump and hose will be here in two days. I ordered "What Baby Needs" for DS3 and "Heart and Hands" (midwifery text) that will also be here Wednesday. Then my birth supplies should should up in 2-3 days (since they are already marked shipped and are in the same state). By 36 weeks, I should actually have everything I NEED!! Now if I can stand up long enough to move the laundry I can start washing baby things and get them ready, too. These BH are making everything a bit tricky.

Bathroom construction seems to be on schedule. We had jackhammers out today working on moving drains and then they were moving the shower head and stuff like that. My DH is going to be SUPER spoiled. He's 6'5" and will have a shower head mounted at 7'6"! It'll be on an adjustable arm so I can get it somewhere closer to me. I still need to go view the progress but all reports are good.

Was looking at Zutano Itzy Bitzy clothes today... Oooh, my... I can't wait to have a little tiny baby to dress! And if it's a girl, I'm in BIG trouble.

I had an awful lot of energy today...cleaned and organized my kitchen, including reorganizing the spice drawer, 'cause you know, that's really important! Then I voted, went to the grocery store, and cooked 3 lasagnas (2 for the freezer) and froze 2 meat loafs. My DH said 'nesting much?'
I am 37 weeks today, and can't believe it!

I ordered my birth pool liner today and the hose. Debating getting a submersible pump. Tomorrow I will probably wash diapers and baby clothes. I can't believe how close my due date is coming but at the same time I'm trying to remind myself that like last time my due date might come and pass without a baby making an appearance. I have had quite a bit of contractions, cramps but nothing that sticks around for long or gets too intense. I tried to see if I could check myself in the shower but I must still be way too high because I couldn't feel a thing. At my midwife appointment last week the baby's head was still not engaged. My home visit with my midwife is on Thursday, I'm excited for that and then we go to weekly visits too!

I still have a huge to do list but I'm not sure how much of it is actually going to get done, I feel like I'm so busy lately. I've yet to make one freezer meal.
My friend linked me to this cool site you can have a best friend or family member email out to people to sign up to bring you meals I thought it was really cool.

I was just thinking the same thing about my 15 year old son... about to get crass here... I swear to BOB he's on the rag or something. I'm so freaking irritable this evening and every noise he made and disgusting thing he did made me want to snap. Then got into a yelling match with me just before bed... I don't even want to apologize at this point. I'm kinda done.. like dude, get a clue. I've been grumpy for hours and you want to start with me?? Yeah.. probably not my finest AP moment and I'll likely apologize tomorrow when I'm less irritable and uncomfortable. I think at 15 you can get figure out that your mother isn't in the mood for whatever it is that you are dishing out.... right???? argh.

I've had contractions off and on all evening. I'm kinda done with it, to be honest. I'm pretty sure nothing is going on and I think all this discomfort is just straight up aggravating. Not to mention we went to visit my FIL tonight, it's an almost hour drive and we had to jam pack everybody in the car to fit... I'm not sure how we're all going to travel when the baby comes. I desperately need a bigger vehicle but it's totally not in the budget right now.

I totally got lost in the thread again, lol. I leave for one day and people just keep talking!

Meta - If I were in your situation, I'd probably be honest with the kids about why you are getting rid of the cat. My parents were in your position when I was about 10 and they made the same decision. Our cat was perfectly healthy, she just *hated* the litter box. My parents told us why they were getting rid of her. My siblings and I were a bit grumpy about it for a little while, but we got over it when we realized we didn't smell cat pee all the time.

ocelotmom - congrats on hitting 38w! Funny how we try to think about the best time for the baby to come, but they never seem to agree with us.

Nic - 15 is such a selfish age for most kids, I think. Sorry that you're dealing with that.

AFM - we had an awesome day yesterday though it started weirdly. Had a bit of a scare since I hadn't felt the baby move in about 18 hours, so I went to L&D for monitoring. Of course, she's fine. The nurses were so... ugh. Some are nice, but I really disliked the one we saw - she really talked down to me which is something I despise. My husband was incredibly ticked off about it. But it's not the end of the world.

After that, though, we went out for breakfast (I was in/out of the hospital in 30 minutes). Then we walked around downtown at the wharf for a while, hit the Asian food store and then did a bit of shopping. We also went to the Cows Creamery. Cows is the PEI ice cream company that's been voted for several years as having the best ice cream in the world, so we did a tour of the creamery. DS LOVED seeing them make ice cream, and sampling it, lol.

Then I made steamed red bean buns. I hadn't been able to find any red bean paste, and I *really* didn't want to make it myself but the Asian food store had some. The buns were wonderful - there's nothing like satisfying a craving!

Also, my prodromal labour seems to be taking a hiatus for which I am very thankful. I actually slept fairly well last night and am feeling very good today. I haven't had anything but some light BH all morning.

Glad everything checked out ok with your lo, Birdmum!

Nic, I know how you feel. Yesterday evening I just kept hearing my voice inside my head telling me what a *itch I was. DH was at work, our dog had been *so* needy all day and kept ringing her bells to go out when it was raining even though I knew she didn't have to go, ds was crazy out of control like I've never seen him before, throwing toys at everyone and trashing the house, and then my hormonal, equally *itchy dd was on a rampage and needing lots of help with her homework, and giving me a hard time with *everything* even as I was trying to help her. I know she gets frustrated easily by her math and science homework because it's difficult for her to understand, but she *always* takes it out on me when I'm trying to help her, like it's my fault she finds it difficult. And then there are the constant distractions from ds and the dog.... I was seriously starting to lose it, but luckily the worst thing I did was kick one of ds's toys really hard when no one was looking... it felt good, though!

I have a mw appt in a little bit. Dh is coming and we're going to have lunch together afterwards. It should be nice, I think. The sun is out today -- I'll take it!

I wrote a long post last night...and then my ipod died.

I'm glad everything is fine, Kay!

Sounds fun, Julie. I love picnics.

Nic

Everyone is nesting like crazy! I've been a lazy bum the last couple of days.

I just was bad and ate 2 Toaster Strudels. Now I want more. I'm going to make myself vomit, but I'm just glad food is starting to sound good again!

Oh yeah, I lost a glob of mcuousy plug last night-no bloody show, but definitely plug. I went to check my cervix and it seemed less effaced but as soon as I went "in" I was like...wtf is this? Gross! I remember losing some randomly in the couple of weeks leading up to #4, so it's not surprising.
Kay, we've certainly heard of Cows here on the West Coast! Sounds like you had a great day.

Julie - your day sounds like my morning - I was so frustrated at my kids yesterday morning. Luckily, the feeling didn't last all day.

I went to a chiro for the first time in my life yesterday - not because I was in pain, but because this particular chiro has a technique for helping open up the pelvis and SP so baby can drop properly. It was a pretty quick visit and he only did a couple of adjustments, but another mom who is with my midwife went to see him a few times and went into labour spontaneously at 39 weeks, so there is hope.

Yikes - 39 weeks - that's only 3 weeks away for me! Gotta get onto more baby nesting things!
for the Chiro visit!

So I just totally lost all hope in this baby coming out in the next month by reading back in my old DDC to compare notes on how I was feeling/progressing. Momma brain managed to allow me to forget some of the details, but it seems as if I still have 4 more weeks of this to go.

Anyone else reading back in old DDCs?

I felt something cold and looked down-I somehow soaked through a good few inches of the left side of my shirt. Other than a couple of drops here and there I could express, this is the first BIG leakage I've had.

I started reading this and started laughing and was like "Wait, I better go pee before I read any further..."

Same here with the gross noises!! Dd1 has a tendency to smack her lips or just chew with her mouth open when she eats - or just makes disgusting mouth noises when we sit next to each other - and this is my NUMBER ONE PET PEEVE IN THE WORLD!! Worse than people who won't turn right on red or sniffling snot, or any of my other pet peeves.

I hear you on being done, too.

I kept thinking about it ALL DAY yesterday and I think if I lied, the worst thing would be that they never got to say goodbye to her (but saying goodbye would be the worst thing too...ugh.)

I'm glad I'm not the only one with tween/teen drama going on. Funny about the toy-kicking, I'll have to try it!

Never had a toaster strudel, but I've had pop tarts before (many moons ago.) Sounds good!

I've never gotten a big glob of mucous plug, just long gooey strands/clumps here & there. Never saw any blood until labor either.

Good for you!! Yes, seeing a good chiro will help to open up your pelvis (which allows for a smoother & faster!) birth. I've never gone into labor following a chiro visit, but I definitely think my labors have been easy because of it.

AFM: I slept from 9pm until 9am!!! With only ONE pee break!! Ah, it was heavenly. I love rainy nights and dark, rainy mornings.

Yesterday the kids had sports group & I was bitchy because I had to get up off my lazy arse and take the rope away from Dd2 & Ds who wouldn't stop fighting over it. And as soon as we got in the car to leave for sports, Ds was like "I'm huuuuungry, can we stop and get something to eat??" All because he neglected to eat his lunch (roasted chicken & sweet potatoes for crying out loud!)

But then I got home and took apart the bucket seat (which my sister used for her baby & it was SO FILTHY from being at the horse barn all the time!) and washed every piece of it. I don't know if I should have put the base & plastic shell in the shower...but it had to be done. Now I need to wash dipes.

As I laid in bed last night, feeling the baby move, I felt a little bittersweet about him not being in there much longer. *sniff, sniff*

Toaster strudels are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than pop-tarts. Think of a pop-tart with a croissant crust instead of that cardboard pastry, and gooey cinnamon bun type frosting.

I like pop tarts well enough, but definitely prefer toaster strudels. Not that I've had them in years.
I bought cinnamon and brown sugar pop tarts last week... and I enjoyed the 4 I ate, smothered in butter. Probably not the healthiest option out there but damn good. I crave butter.... and that just sounded too yummy. Toaster strudel is very yummy, too.. it's been awhile since I've had those. Now I want to run to the store and pick some up to hoard to myself.. my kids inevitably eat stuff like that before I get the opportunity .

I feel a little less grumpy today... I slept well, I figured out how to place all of my pillows just so for comfort. It was nice, I only had to wake to pee 2 or 3 times, lol.
