I need help!!!

Hello,
My 19th old month son is complaining about his penis, saying ouch ouch and touching his penis. I try retracting it (his uncircumcised) and he wont let me touch it. And one day I finally did and the tip (opening of his penis) is pinkish/redish. I'm not sure if its infected or UTI.
Did any of you experience something like this with your sons?

Thanks!

First off no one but your ds should ever retract his penis. It can cause all kinds of problems and isnt worth the risk. Have you been retracting to clean at all? Has any Dr. pushed his foreskin back to check it? If yes then you need to make sure not to do it any more and make sure that the Dr. dosnt do it any more. If not then disregard what I just said

Have you seen this thread http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=764732 it talks about normal separation issues which sounds like your ds is probably having.

The glans of the intact penis is supposed to be a bright red/purple color so that isnt a problem. UTI does not manifest with soreness of the penis without pain in the bladder area so unless he is hurting in his tummy UTI wouldnt cross my mind.

Sometimes when little ones get erections it can feel funny and since they dont know how else to describe it they often say ow or something similar.

DO NOT retract it anymore and DO NOT let anyone else retract it under ANY circumstances (not even supposed gentle "I'm just going to push on it a bit/pull on it a bit/move it a bit" retraction - none at all!). If he does have an infection, this will almost certainly make it worse, and it will definitely make the pain worse (even if he doesn't react in pain immediately). Retracting the foreskin causes it to tear, much like ripping your fingernail from the bed. We've all accidentally yanked our nail and even if it doesn't come close to coming off it still hurts pretty bad...it's the same thing. And that increases the risk of infection.

I just had to reiterate that...

Oh, and the proper term is "intact," not "uncircumcised." You can't uncircumcise a child...circumcision is the amputation of a functioning part of the penis, therefore a child who has not bee circumcised is considered whole, or, intact. Just FYI.

I've had that happen with one of my sons. I just took him to the dr and they gave him a cream. It stopped hurting by the next day.

For some immediate relief you can put him in some clean bath water and add a bunch of baking soda to the water. It worked for my son when he had some separation issues. He was a bit swollen and uncomfortable fore 3 days but it went away all on it's own with no meds.
