advice for 20-month old who spits out most food

Advice, please!

My daughter is 20-months and is a horrible eater. She still nurses - about 7 - 8 times a day, so I thinks she's getting some nutrition, but I'm worried. She's also low on the weight scale (3% at her 18-mo appt.) hence some of the concern.

The problem is she spits out most of her food. Just now, she asked for some grapes. So I cut them and gave her a little bowl full. She chewed each grape individually and then spit them out one by one. She did this to the whole bowl (maybe 20 halves) and then came to me with the empty bowl and asked for more. She does this for most foods (except for oatmeal and yogurt.)

Anybody struggled with a similar thing? Advice?

Many thanks!

I would talk to the pediatrician and get an early intervention/OT referral.

Wow. I think my DD is even worse. She won't even touch fruit with a six foot pole. And, 95% veggies and meat we get her to eat come back out. She can take a mouthful of peas and reduce them to perfect hulls.

I will look into EI/OT.

Our pediatrician is only concerned with weight gain. She is gaining, so no problem. We are in the process of moving and are going to figure this out when the dust settles. Seriously, It is so frustrating. I have just about given up on trying to feed her properly.

She has been like this since she was a baby. She is now 27 months.
